  1. LONG DISTANCE RAIL PASSENGER SERVICES : GROUP TRAVEL CONCESSIONS

5.1 Gatherings of 20 or more

5.1.1 Concession and conditions: Tickets may be issued for travel by all long distance rail passenger services except the Silver Fern service at ordinary fares less ten percent to a group of at least 20 persons travelling from various stations to participate in a specific gathering or event (e.g. conference, competition, instructional, educational or recreational activity, etc.) and also to families of such persons who may be accompanying them.

5.1.2 Applications: Applications, specifying the dates between which the gathering or event will be held, and the name of the person who will sign certificates on behalf of the organising body, should be made to the Commercial Manager of the Corporation not less than two months before the date of commencement of the gathering concerned.

5.1.3 Certificate: Each application for tickets must be supported by a certificate in the following form:

5.2 "Super groups" of six or more

5.2.1 Concession and conditions: Tickets may be issued for travel by all long distance rail passenger services except the Silver Fern service at ordinary fares less ten percent to groups of six to ten, 20 percent to groups of 11 to 20 and 25 percent to groups of 21 or more travelling together between any two stations, provided that where children are included in the group each will count as a half for the purpose of determining the number in the group. The journey must total 100 kilometres either as a single journey or, with at least 50 kilometres in each direction, as a return journey.

5.2.2 Availability: "Super group" concessions are not available during December or January, nor at Easter from the Wednesday before Good Friday until the following Tuesday.

5.3 Youth organisations

5.3.1 Concession and conditions: Tickets may be issued for travel by all long distance rail passenger services except the Silver Fern service at the ordinary fare less ten percent to members of the following organisations in parties of not less than six, including officers in charge of such parties, travelling in uniform to attend parades or instruction camps:

Boy Scouts
Boys' Brigade
Girl Guides
Girls' Brigade
Navy League Sea Cadets
Red Cross Cadets
Red Cross Link Cadets
St John Ambulance Brigade Cadets

5.3.2 Applications: Each application for tickets must be supported by a certificate in the following form:

a parade (or instruction camp) at ...................................... on ......................................

5.3.3 Lone Scouts: Lone Scouts in uniform travelling to Scout Camps may also be granted the foregoing fare concessions with exemption from the minimum party number requirement. Application for tickets must be accompanied by a certificate in the foregoing form signed by the Dominion Commissioner for Lone Scouts, or the Secretary, Boy Scouts' Association (N.Z.) Inc.
