Boundaries of Waipawa District and Waipukurau District Defined

PURSUANT to section 48 of the Local Government Act 1974, the Secretary for Local Government hereby defines, as set out in the Schedule hereto, the boundaries of Waipawa District and Waipukurau District, those boundaries having been altered by Order in Council made on 12 October 1981, and published in the New Zealand Gazette, 22 October 1981, No. 122, page 2909.

FIRST SCHEDULE
BOUNDARIES OF THE DISTRICT OF WAIPAWA

ALL that area in the Hawke’s Bay Land District containing 1354 square kilometres, more or less, bounded by a line commencing at the intersection of a right line, between Trig Station 30 (Aorangi) in Block XI, Pukeokehu Survey District (Wellington Land District), and the confluence of the Makaroro River and the Makaroro Stream in Block IX, Wakarara Survey District, and the summit of the Ruahine Range in Block I, Block XI, Wakarara Survey District; then proceeding south-easterly along that right line to the said confluence; thence easterly along a right line to the northernmost point of Section 1, Block XI, Wakarara Survey District; thence south-easterly generally along the north-eastern boundary of that section to and down the middle of the Mangamauku Stream to a point in line with the western boundary of Block V, and along that boundary, the western boundaries of Block V, again Block I and Block III, all Gwvas Crown Grant District; thence south-easterly along a right line to the northernmost corner of Section 1, Block XIV, Maraeakaho Survey District, and along the north-eastern boundaries of that section to the north-western side of Te Onepu Road, along a right line to, and along the north-eastern boundaries of Section 1, Block XV, Maraeakaho Survey District, part Lot 29, D.P. 4416, and Lot 5, D.P. 5103, and the production of the last-mentioned boundary to the middle of No. 2 State Highway; thence southerly generally along the middle of that highway to a point in line with the north-eastern boundary of Block 85, Patangata Crown Grant District; thence south-easterly to and along the middle of Homewood Road, to its easternmost corner; thence south-easterly along a right line to a point on the north-western side of Racecourse Road in line with the middle of Homewood Road; thence south-easterly generally to and along the middle of Homewood Road to a point in line with the western boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 15798; thence southerly generally to and along that boundary and the western boundaries of Lot 2, D.P. 15798, to the north-western side of a public road, along a right line to and, again, along that western boundary to the northern side of Pourerere Road; thence westerly along that roadside to a point in line with the north-western side of Walkers Road; thence south-westerly to and along the middle of the Tukipo and Makaretu Rivers and the Maharaeke Stream to a point in line with the south-eastern boundary of Section 5, Block VII, Takapau Survey District; thence north-westerly generally along the north-western, south-western and north-western boundaries of Section 5, aforesaid, to the northernmost corner of that section; thence south-westerly generally along the north-western, south-western and north-western boundaries of Section 5, aforesaid, and the north-western boundaries of Lot 1, Deeds Plan 455, to the western-most corner of that lot; thence south-easterly along the south-western boundary of Lot 1, aforesaid, to the north-western side of a public road, along a right line to and again along the north-western boundary of that Lot 2 and its production to the middle of the Mangapurakau Stream; thence north-westerly generally down the middle of that stream to and down the middle of the Waikopiro Stream to and up the middle of the Manawatu River to a point in line with the middle of the old Norsewood-Takapau Road as shown on M.L. 1631; thence due north along a right line to the middle of the Makaretu River; thence westerly along the middle of that river to its source; thence due west along a right line to the summit of the Ruahine Range; thence northerly generally along the summit of the Ruahine Range to the point of commencement.

BOUNDARIES OF THE DISTRICT OF WAIPUKURA U

ALL that area in the Hawke’s Bay Land District containing 2031 square kilometres, more or less, bounded by a line commencing at a point in the middle of the Tukituki River in line with the north-western side of Walkers Road in Block XVI, Waipukurau Survey District, and proceeding north-easterly along a right line to and along that roadside and its production to the northern side of Pourerere Road; along that roadside to the western boundary of Lot 2, D.P. 15798; thence northerly generally along that western boundary to the south-eastern side of a public road, along a right line to and again along that western boundary of Lot 2, aforesaid, and the western boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 15798, and its production to the middle of Homewood Road; thence north-westerly along the middle of that road and its production to the north-western side of Racecourse Road; thence north-westerly along a right line to the easternmost corner of Block XIV, Patangata Crown Grant District, and the production of the last-mentioned boundaries of the middle of the No. 2 State Highway; thence northerly along the middle of that highway to the middle of the junction of Boundary Road; thence generally easterly, southerly and north-easterly along the middle of that last-named road and Te Aute Trust Road to and south-westerly along the middle of Middle Road to the middle of the Papanui Stream; thence easterly generally down the middle of that stream to and down the middle of the Tukituki River to and up the middle of the Hawea Stream to be point in line with the northern boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 14568; thence easterly to and along that boundary to the western side of Kahuranaki Road, along a right line to and along the northern boundary of that section, Lot 2 of Section 5, and Section 6, all in Block III, Oero Survey District, to the northern boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 3215; thence easterly along that boundary to the western side of Waipoapoa Road, along a right line to and again along the northern boundary of Lot 2, D.P. 3216, to the western side of Te Apati Road, along a right line to and again along that northern boundary of Lot 2, aforesaid, along the abutment of an unnamed road intersecting the said Lot 2 to and again along that northern boundary of the said part Lot 3, D.P. 549 in Block X, Tautane Survey District; thence generally south-westerly along the south-western side of Seaview Road, along a right line to and again along that boundary to the westernmost corner of the said part Lot 3; thence north-easterly along the north-western boundary of the said part Lot 3 and its production to the middle of Papuka Stream; thence up the middle of that stream to a point in line with the south-western boundary of Block 83, Tautane Crown Grant District; thence north-westerly and north-easterly to and along that boundary and the north-western boundary of Blocks 86 and 27, Tautane Crown Grant District, to the south-eastern boundary of Block 75, Tautane Crown Grant District; thence south-westerly along that boundary and the south-eastern boundary of Block 79, Tautane Crown Grant District, to the south-westernmost corner of that block; thence north-easterly along the north-western boundary of the said Block 79 to the south-eastern
