NOTICE is hereby given that the land described in the Schedule hereto has been acquired under the Forests Act 1949 as State forest land.

Revoking State Highway and Declaring Public Highway to be State Highway

PURSUANT to section 11 of the National Roads Act 1953, the National Roads Board, acting with the written approval of the Minister of Works and Development, gives notice that the State highways declared in the First Schedule hereto are revoked with effect from 1 April 1982, and the public highway described in the Second Schedule hereto is declared to be State highway with effect from 1 April 1982, within the meaning and for the purpose of the National Roads Act.

FIRST SCHEDULE

All that section of No. 6 State Highway as described in the Second Schedule to the varying notice published in the Gazette, 14 October 1965, No. 59, page 1781, and as described in the notice declaring public highway to be State highway published in the Gazette, 4 November 1976, No. 113, page 2507, and all that section of No. 6 State Highway in Queenstown as described in Part II of the Schedule to the notice declaring public highways to be State highways published in the Gazette, 24 March 1960, No. 20, page 384.

All that section of No. 45 State Highway in New Plymouth as described in the Second Schedule to the varying notice published in the Gazette, 11 September 1969, No. 55, page 1734.

All that section of No. 48 State Highway as described in the Second Schedule to the notice declaring public highway to be State highway published in the Gazette, 7 August 1975, No. 65, page 1756.

All that section of No. 57A State Highway as described in the Schedule to the notice declaring public highway to be State highway published in the Gazette, 20 November 1975, No. 104, page 2795.

PART I—GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF STATE HIGHWAYS

North Island

No. 47 State Highway (National Park–Tokaanu) commencing at its junction with No. 4 State Highway at National Park and proceeding thence via Tauriewa and the Te Ponanga Saddle Road to its junction with No. 41 State Highway at Tokaanu.

No. 48 State Highway (Chateau) commencing at its junction with No. 47 State Highway 8.84 kilometres east of National Park and proceeding thence for a distance of 6.86 kilometres to the Chateau.

South Island

No. 6 State Highway (Blenheim–Invercargill) commencing at Blenheim and proceeding thence to Invercargill via Renwick, Havelock, Rai Valley, Nelson, Richmond, Brightwater, Wakefield, Belgrove, Spooners Hill, Korere, Clark Valley, Hope Hill, Kawaiiti, Murchison, O’Sullivan’s Bridge, Lyall, Inangahua Junction, Westport Junction, Charleston, Tioroanoa, Punakaiki, Barrytown, Rapahoe, Runanga, Greymouth, Paroa, Kumara Junction, Hokitika, Kaniere, Rimu, Ross, Harihari, Wataroa, The Forks, Waiho, Weheka, Karangarua, Bruce Bay, Mahitahi, Haast, Makaroa, and proceeding via Lake Wanaka, Lake Hawea and Albert Town to its junction with No. 89 State Highway; thence via Luggate, Queensbury, Lowburn, Kawarau Bridge, Swiftburn Deviation, Arrow Junction, Ladies Mile and Lower Shotover Bridge (opened 1975) to Frankton, and thence via Garston, Athol, Lumsden, Caroline, Dipton, Winton, Lochiel, Makarcwa and Waikiwi to Invercargill.

No. 6A State Highway (Frankton–Queenstown) commencing at its junction with No. 6 State Highway at Frankton and proceeding for 6.84 kilometres to the junction of Hay Street and Beach Street in Queenstown.

No. 87 State Highway (Mosgiel–Kyebrun) commencing at its junction with No. 1 State Highway in Mosgiel and proceeding via Outram Lee Stream, Clarks Road, Sutton, Middlemark, Robertsee Road, Wandle Road, Hyde and Kokonga to its junction with No. 85 State Highway at Kyebrun.


PART II—

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF STATE HIGHWAYS IN TOWNS

North Island—New Plymouth

No. 45 State Highway. Commencing at the intersections of Courtenay and Leach Streets with Eliot Street and proceeding via the one-way pair of Courtenay/Powderham and Leach/Vivian Streets to Morley Street, and proceeding from the intersection of Vivian Street and Morley Street along Morley Street to its intersection with Devon Street, and proceeding thence in a south-westerly direction by way of Devon Street, Devon Street West and South Road to the western boundary of the city.

South Island—Mosgiel

No. 87 State Highway. From No. 1 State Highway at Quarry Road, along Quarry Road and Gordon Road to the north-western boundary of the borough of Mosgiel.

Queenstown

No. 6A State Highway. From the south-eastern boundary of the Borough of Queenstown at the intersection of Suburb Street and Frankton Road, along Frankton Road, Stanley Street, Shotover Street and Hay Street to the junction of Hay Street and Beach Street.

PURSUANT to the National Roads Act 1953 and the Transport Act 1962, the National Roads Board makes the following bylaw:

  1. This bylaw may be cited as National Roads Board Bylaw 1982, No. 1.

  2. This bylaw shall come into force on the day after its publication in the Gazette.
