6.2 “Super Six” travel vouchers
6.2.1 Concession: Five long distance passenger receipt ticket copies may be exchanged for a “Super Six” travel voucher to the value of 20 percent of the total fares paid.
6.2.2 Conditions: The five journeys must have been made within a three month qualifying period by the same person and each must have a minimum fare value of $6. The tickets must have been purchased from a Corporation booking office or an authorised booking agency at ordinary fares. The travel voucher must be used in one transaction: there shall be no cash refunds.
6.2.3 Applications: Applications for “Super Six” travel vouchers should be made to the Corporation’s Passenger Manager.
- RAIL SEASON TICKETS
7.1 Conditions for use
7.1.1 Breach of conditions: A season ticket is liable to forfeiture if there is a breach of any condition governing its use or subject to which it is issued.
7.1.2 Discontinuance of service: The Corporation is not under any circumstances whatsoever to be held liable for the discontinuance, whether permanent or otherwise, of the running of any service, or for any consequences arising from such discontinuance.
7.1.3 Surrender on demand: A season ticket is issued on the condition that it is not available for any journey unless it is delivered on demand to any employee of the Corporation. If a season ticket is not so delivered the holder shall pay the ordinary fare for the journey involved.
7.2 School season tickets
7.2.1 Conditions: School season tickets, available for each standard school term as notified by the Department of Education, or for any school term not exceeding 15 weeks fixed by any private school, will be issued only to primary or secondary school pupils under 21 years of age, exclusively engaged in their studies and not in receipt of salary or emolument. The fare for each school season ticket will be $20.30.
7.2.2 Time and day of use: School season tickets are available for use by the holders only when travelling to or from school for the purpose of receiving tuition or attending school functions approved by the Department of Education. Unless endorsed “evening” at the time of issue or unless supported on each journey by a certificate in the form prescribed by the Corporation from the principal of the school that later attendance at school was necessary for tuition or for an approved school function, they will not be available for travel by trains scheduled to leave the joining station after 1900 hours. School season tickets will not be available for use on Sundays.
7.2.3 Distance limitation: School season tickets will not be issued for travel over distances exceeding 100 kilometres.
7.2.4 Certificates: Certificates in the form prescribed by the Corporation, signed by the teacher, must be produced when applications are made for school season tickets.
7.2.5 Reserved carriage or compartment: When any railway carriage or compartment in a railway carriage on any train has been reserved for the accommodation of school children, school season tickets shall be available only when the holder travels for the whole of the journey in that carriage or compartment.
7.2.6 Use of non smoking areas: When no railway carriage or compartment in a railway carriage on any train has been reserved for the accomodation of school children, school season tickets shall be available only when the holder travels for the whole journey in a carriage or compartment or part of a carriage or compartment not reserved for smoking.
7.2.7 Occupation of seat: School season tickets are issued subject to the condition that the holder does not occupy a seat when adult passengers are standing in the same carriage or compartment. A school pupil travelling on any such ticket who fails to give up a seat to an adult shall pay the ordinary fare for the journey.
7.2.8 Forfeiture of tickets: School season tickets may be forfeited at the option of the Corporation, without prejudice to any other penalty to which the holder may be liable, in the event of the holder committing any offence against any terms or conditions made pursuant to the New Zealand Railways Corporation Act 1981 governing the issue or use of such tickets; or in the event of the holder disobeying, obstructing or hindering any employee of the Corporation or damaging any railway carriage or interfering with or damaging any equipment or fittings therein, or being guilty of any other misconduct on the railway.
7.3 Broken periods
A monthly season ticket may be made available from any date after the commencement of a month to include the succeeding full month. The fare for such pro rata season tickets will be calculated at one thirtieth of the monthly fare for each day in the unexpired portion of the broken calendar month covered by the ticket plus the full fare for the succeeding month.
7.4 Defaced season tickets
Mutilated or defaced season tickets will not be recognised for travel. A charge of $2.10 will be made for replacing each such ticket provided its validity can be determined. Where the validity of the ticket cannot be determined it will be treated as a lost ticket. (refer to clause 2.15.4).
7.5 Monthly season tickets
7.5.1 Long distance rail services: Monthly season tickets will be available for distances not exceeding 113 kilometres at charges as set out in the following clause on all long distance rail passenger services except the following:
