Notice of Receipt of Application for an Amendment to an International Air Service Licence

PURSUANT to section 14 of the International Air Services Licensing Act 1947, notice is hereby given that Qantas Airways Ltd. of Sydney, Australia, has applied for an amendment to its International Air Service Licence to operate air services for the carriage of passengers, cargo and mail between Auckland and Darwin, optionally via Townsville, Australia, and between Auckland and Townsville, Australia. Further details of the proposal may be obtained from the Secretary for Transport, Ministry of Transport, Private Bag, Wellington.

Any person or organisation desiring to make representations relating to this application, must forward these representations in writing to reach me on or before 26 March 1982.

Price Order No. 239 (California Navel Oranges)

PURSUANT to the Commerce Act 1975, I, Desmond James Gasson, pursuant to a delegation from the Secretary of Trade and Industry, hereby make the following price order:

  1. This order may be cited as Price Order No. 239 and shall come into force on the 8th day of March 1982.

  2. Price Order No. 236* is hereby revoked.

APPLICATION OF THIS ORDER

  1. This order applies with respect to all Californian navel oranges sold by way of retail in New Zealand.

MAXIMUM RETAIL PRICES OF CALIFORNIAN NAVAL ORANGES

  1. (1) The maximum price that may be charged or received by any retailer for any Californian navel oranges to which this order applies shall be:

(a) When sold by a retailer carrying on business in any of the metropolitan areas of Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, or Dunedin, or in any of the Cities or Boroughs of Whangarei, Hamilton, Tauranga, Rotorua, Gisborne, New Plymouth, Stratford, Hawera, Wanganui, Palmerston North, Napier, Hastings, Masterton, Blenheim, Nelson, Greymouth, Timaru, Westport, Oamaru, Balclutha, Gore, Invercargill, or Alexandra—

$1.81 a kilogram.

(b) When sold by a retailer carrying on business elsewhere—

$1.83 a kilogram.

(2) If in respect of any lot of oranges the price calculated in accordance with the foregoing provisions of this clause is not an exact number of cents, the maximum price of the lot shall be computed to the nearest whole cent.

PROVISIONS FOR SPECIAL PRICES

  1. Notwithstanding anything to the contrary in the foregoing provisions of this order, and subject to such conditions, if any, as he thinks fit, the Secretary, on application by any retailer, may authorise special maximum prices in respect of any Californian navel oranges to which this order applies where special circumstances exist, or for any reason extraordinary charges (freight or otherwise) are incurred by the retailer. Any authority given by the Secretary under this clause may apply with respect to a specified lot or consignment of oranges, or may relate generally to Californian navel oranges to which this order applies sold by the retailer while the approval remains in force.

DUTY IMPOSED ON RETAILERS

  1. Every retailer who offers or exposes for sale in any shop any Californian navel oranges to which this order applies shall keep in a prominent position in such proximity to the oranges to which it relates as to be obviously in relation thereto, a ticket, placard, or label on which shall be stated in legible and prominent characters the following particulars:

(a) The retail price per kilogram.

(b) The words “California Navel”.

Setting Apart Maori Freehold Land as a Maori Reservation

PURSUANT to section 439 of the Maori Affairs Act 1953, the Maori freehold land described in the Schedule hereto is hereby set apart as a Maori Reservation for the purpose of an urupa and place of historical and spiritual interest for the common use and benefit of the Ngati Maniapoto Tribe and its sub-tribes.
