Electoral Boundary Objections

THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE
4385

Objection No. 181 R. K. Maxwell, M.P. for Waitakere.
Similar to Objection No. 180. This adjustment is supported by local facts as they apply to the criteria set out in the Electoral Act.

Objection No. 185 F. Mangnall of Glen Eden.
Similar to Objection No. 180.

TE ATATU

Objection No. 28 City Secretary, City of Waitemata.
Agrees with the boundaries, however the names should be as follows: Te Atatu (Waitemata); Waitakere (Waitemata South); West Auckland (Waitemata North).

Objection No. 148 Town Clerk, Henderson Borough Council.
Objects to the name Te Atatu, considers Henderson to be more appropriate.

NEW LYNN

Objection No. 44 Town Clerk, Glen Eden Borough Council.
Objects on the basis that the borough is now included in two electorates. Kahi Terrace, Cartwright Road, and Netherlands Avenue should be included in Waitakere Electorate and Cezanne Place should be included in New Lynn Electorate.

Objection No. 196 R. G. Bryant of Kelston.
Similar to Objection No. 180.

Objection No. 199 K. P. Lynch of Green Bay.
Considers the area bounded by the New Lynn Borough boundary, Golf Road, and Titirangi Road should remain in Waitakere for reasons of community of interest and the need to avoid changing long established boundaries—both political and local authority. The change appears to be made to meet electoral population quotas and this could be more readily achieved near Kelston.

MOUNT ALBERT

Objection No. 67 T. Hassall of Mount Eden.
Appeals against the transfer of that portion of Burnley Terrace from Eden electorate. Suggests the local authority boundary should be maintained and that electoral equity be achieved through proportional representation.

EDEN

Objection No. 27 Town Clerk, Mount Albert City.
The council considers that the adjustments made in Dominion Road, Balmoral Road, and Sandringham Road should conform to the territorial boundary in order to preserve some semblance of community of interest.

Objection No. 29 Town Clerk, Mount Eden Borough.
Similar to Objection No. 27.

Objection No. 126 A. E. and S. R. Gailey of Mount Albert.
Argue for the retention of the local authority boundary for the electoral boundary of Mount Albert and Eden. This reflects a great degree of community of interest. Consider Hunting Tree Avenue should form part of Mount Albert.

Objection No. 132 D. McRae of Mount Eden.
Similar to Objection No. 126.

Objection No. 159 President Eden Branch N.Z. Social Credit Political League and 423 petitioners.
The changes to the western boundary of Eden are unnecessary and contrary to the interests of the local community and all of Mount Eden Borough should be retained within the electorate.

Objection No. 171 Secretary, the Kingsland Society.
Similar to Objection No. 27.

Objection No. 178 R. M. Carter of Epsom.
Objects to the inclusion of a portion of Remuera in the electorate and that the new boundary along Sandringham and Dominion Roads breaks a solid cohesive block of the community. The southern boundary could extend further south to the natural barrier by the Masonic Village. If the boundaries remain unchanged the name should become Eden-Epsom.

Objection No. 192 Chairman Mount Eden Planning Group.
Considers that Mount Eden Borough must be included within the electorate. The Surveyor General’s provisional proposals as printed in an Auckland paper best represent the community of interest of the district.

AUCKLAND CENTRAL

Objection No. 32 R. W. Prebble, M.P. for Auckland Central.
Objects to the classification of “Urban or Predominantly Urban”. As the electorate includes Great Barrier and Waiheke Islands either “Partially Urban and Partially Rural” or “Rural or Predominantly Rural” should apply.

Objection No. 79 Secretary, Auckland Central Labour Party Electorate Committee.
Similar to Objection No. 32.

Objection No. 97 Chairman Great Barrier Island County Council.
Similar to Objection No. 32.

Objection No. 212 Chairman, Waiheke Island County Council
Similar to Objection No. 32.

ONEHUNGA

Objection No. 14 V. E. Wallace of Epsom.
Considers the area to the west of One Tree Hill extending from Green Lane West to Rauterenga Avenue should be included in Eden Electorate on the basis of community of interest with the adjoining district.

Objection No. 17 I. M. S. and J. I. Field of Epsom.
Similar to Objection No. 14, asks for this locality to be added to Eden.

Objection No. 34 B. T. Duke of Epsom.
Similar to Objection No. 14.

Objection No. 35 I. A. C. Duke of Epsom.
Similar to Objection No. 14.

Objection No. 36 M. N. Thacker of Epsom.
Similar to Objection No. 14.

Objection No. 37 M. A. Wardill of Epsom.
Similar to Objection No. 14.

Objection No. 38 S. M. Nicholas.
Similar to Objection No. 14.

Objection No. 50 D. J. Robertson of Epsom.
Similar to Objection No. 14.

Objection No. 52 N. M. May of Epsom and three others.
Similar to Objection No. 14.

Objection No. 56 D. J. Ross, J.P. of Epsom.
Similar to Objection No. 14.

Objection No. 59 G. Weston-Webb of Epsom.
Similar to Objection No. 14.

Objection No. 60 P. B. and R. R. Fox of Epsom.
Similar to Objection No. 14.

Objection No. 69 M. Weston-Webb.
Similar to Objection No. 14.

Objection No. 98 J. J. and D. Bryce of Epsom.
Similar to Objection No. 14.

Objection No. 116 B. P. Cucksey.
Similar to Objection No. 14.

Objection No. 184 P. T. Kiely of Epsom.
Similar to Objection No. 14.

Objection No. 209 P. P. Hunter of Epsom.
Similar to Objection No. 14.

REMUERA

Objection No. 33 A. L. Turnock of Ellerslie and 16 petitioners.
The residents in Morrin, Robert, and Somerfield Streets advise their area has always been an integral part of Onehunga and they want to remain in this electorate.

Objection No. 193 N. D. George of Ellerslie.
Objects to the division of the Borough of Ellerslie, considers it should be totally included in Onehunga.

Objection No. 194 C. Elliott of Ellerslie.
Similar to Objection No. 193.

PANMURE

Objection No. 18 President, Pakuranga Jaycee Inc.
Expresses strong opposition to the inclusion of a portion of Pakuranga in Panmure. The areas are separated by the Tamaki River.

Objection No. 58 T. McCallum of Pakuranga.
Similar to Objection No. 18.

MANGERE

Objection No. 134 R. D. Tait and also C. and W. Hennah.
Object to an electoral boundary dividing Henwood Street. The proposed southern motorway or Tidal and Massey Road should form the boundary with Papatoetoe.
