HAMILTON WEST
Population: 31 716 Classification Urban or Predominantly Urban
Commencing at the intersection of the Waikato River and the
boundary of Hamilton City near Peacocke Road and proceeding
southerly, westerly, and northerly along that boundary to a point
in line with Dingdale Road; thence northerly along the extension
of the boundary of the Hamilton City to a point in line with Ellicott
Road; thence north-easterly to and along that road, Forest Lake
Road, Te Rapa Road, Vercoe Road, Portal Crescent, Beerescourt
Road, Minchin Crescent and its extension to the Waikato River;
thence up that river to the boundary of Hamilton City.

HAMILTON EAST
Population: 31 600 Classification Urban or Predominantly Urban
Commencing at the intersection of the Waikato River with the
northern boundary of Hamilton City and proceeding easterly and
southerly along that boundary to Ruakura Road; along the pro-
posed motorway to Clyde Street, along that street, Knighton Road,
Cambridge Road, Cobham Drive to the proposed motorway;
thence southerly along that motorway to the Waikato River, thence
down that river to the boundary of Hamilton City near Braithwaite
Park.

WAIKATO
Population: 31 362 Classification Rural or Predominantly Rural
Comprises County of Waikato, that portion of Hamilton City to
the east of the Waikato River that is not included in Hamilton East
Electoral District and the Borough of Huntly.

MATAMATA
Population: 32 184 Classification Rural or Predominantly Rural
comprises the Matamata Electoral District, N.Z. Gazette, 20 June
1977, page 1701, together with the Pukeatua Ward of Waipa
County.
The Pukeatua Ward is the south-eastern portion of Waipa
County generally bounded by the Parawera-Wharepapa Road, Mell-
sop Road, Monckton Road, the Mangahoi Stream, then north-east-
erly along a leading ridge between Kairangi and Pukeatua to the
Matamata County boundary.

TAURANGA
Population: 32 614 Classification Urban or Predominantly Urban
Comprises the City of Tauranga excluding therefrom the suburb of
Maungatapu, i.e., that area to the north and east of the Hairini
Bridge and approaches.

KAIMAI
Population: 32 841 Classification Rural or Predominantly Rural
Commencing at trig 17 on the mean high water mark of the sea at
the eastern extremity of Papamoa Beach and following due south
to Bell Road; thence westerly along that road No. 2 State Highway,
Welcome Bay Road, Reid Road to Upper Papamoa Road; thence
southerly along a leading ridge through Trig Stations Wharetar-
akeho, Otawa, and Otane-
wainuku to the boundary of Kaimai Elec-
toral District, N.Z. Gazette, 20 June 1977, page 1701, thence
southerly, westerly, northerly, and south-easterly along that bound-
ary to Papamoa Beach excluding therefrom the electoral district of
Tauranga.

WAIPA
Population: 32 774 Classification Rural or Predominantly Rural
Commencing at the intersection of the southern boundary of Mata-
mata Electoral District and Waikato River and proceeding up that
river and the Maraemanuka Stream and along Marotiri Road and
No. 32 State Highway to the boundary of Taupo County; thence
north-westerly along that boundary and the Otorohanga District
boundary to the boundary of the Raglan Electoral District; thence
easterly along that boundary and easterly and southerly along the
boundaries of Waikato and Matamata Electoral Districts to the
Waikato River near Lake Arapuni.

ROTORUA
Population: 32 146 Classification Urban or Predominantly Urban
Comprises the Rotorua ward of Rotorua District.

TARAWERA
Population: 31 849 Classification Rural or Predominantly Rural
Commencing at the mouth of Whakatane River and proceeding up
that river to a point in line with the northern boundary of the State
Forest near Downard Road; thence westerly to and along that
boundary to Maunder Road, and along the northern boundary of
Tarawera Ward to the Rangitaiki River; thence up that river and
along No. 30 State Highway, Kawerau Road and the northern
boundary of the Kawerau Borough and its production through State
Forest land to the boundary of Rotorua District; thence southerly
and westerly along that boundary and along No. 38 State Highway,
Old Waiotapu Road to its intersection with No. 5 State Highway;
thence along right lines to Maungaongaonga to Paeroa, Te Waro
and thence to Orakei Korako; thence northerly along the bound-
aries of Rotorua District and Kaimai Electoral District to Papamoa
Beach; thence easterly along the mean high water mark of the sea
to the Whakatane River excluding therefrom Rotorua Electoral
District.

TONGARIRO
Population: 32 716 Classification Rural or Predominantly Rural
Commencing at Orakei Koraro and proceeding up the Waikato
River to Wairakei; thence westerly through the Wairakei Geother-
mal area to the intersection of Poihipi Road and Orunaui Road;
thence southerly to and along Tukairangi Road to a point due west
of Punatakehi; thence westerly along a right line to the intersection
of Mapara Road and Whakiroa Road; thence south-westerly along
Mapara Road and its extension to Whakapapa Bay; thence south-
easterly along the shore of Lake Taupo to Otueto Point and along
the northern and eastern boundary of Rangitoto Ward of Taupo
County to the boundary of the said county; thence westerly along
that county boundary to Mt. Tongariro; thence down the Wanganui
River to the boundary of Taumarunui Borough; thence along the
southern and western boundaries of the said borough and up Onga-
rue River and the North Island Main Trunk Railway to the bound-
ary of Waitomo County; thence easterly along that boundary and
along the southern and eastern boundary of Waipa Electoral Dis-
trict, the southern boundary of Matamata Electoral District and
western boundary of Tarawera Electoral District to Orakei Koraro.

EAST CAPE
Population: 33 354 Classification Rural or Predominantly Rural
Commencing at the mouth of the Whakatane River and proceeding
easterly and southerly along the mean high water mark of the sea
and westerly along the boundary of Waiapu and Waikohu Counties
to the southern boundary of Waimana Ward Whakatane District;
thence westerly along that boundary passing through Te Rangaa-
ruanuku to the south-western corner of Waimana Ward near Te
Koikoi; thence due north to a point in line with Oputara near the
Whirinaki River; thence westerly to and down that river to a point
in line with Cemetery Road near Murupara; thence southerly to the
boundary of Murupara Borough and westerly along the northern
boundary of the said borough to No. 38 State Highway; thencealong
that State Highway to the boundary of Whakatane District; thence
northerly along that boundary and the boundary of the Tarawera
Electoral District to the mouth of the Whakatane River.

GISBORNE
Population: 33 226 Classification Rural or Predominantly Rural
Comprises Cook County and Gisborne City.

WAIKAREMOANA
Population: 33 015 Classification Rural or Predominantly Rural
Commencing at the intersection of the southern boundary of Cook
County and the mean high water mark of the sea and proceeding
southerly along that water mark to the boundary of the City of
Napier; thence south-easterly along that boundary and the road
passing through Waiohiki to No. 50 State Highway; thence south-
westerly along that highway and the eastern boundary of Meeanee
Ward, Hawke's Bay County to the Ngaruraro River; thence up that
river to the boundary of Tongariro Electoral District; thence north-
erly along that boundary and easterly along the southern boundaries
of Tarawera, East Cape, and Gisborne Electoral Districts to the
mean high water mark of the sea at Takararoa.

NAPIER
Population: 32 650 Classification Urban or Predominantly Urban
Comprises the electoral district of Napier, N.Z. Gazette, 20 June
1977, page 1701, excluding that portion of Tamatea west of York
Avenue, Durham Avenue, and Westminster Avenue as far as
Guildford Street.

HASTINGS
Population: 33 230 Classification Urban or Predominantly Urban
Comprises the Hastings Electoral District, N.Z. Gazette, 20 June
1977, page 1701.

HAWKE'S BAY
Population 33 219 Classification Urban or Predominantly Urban
Commencing at the southern boundary of Napier Electoral District
and proceeding southerly along the mean high water mark of the
sea to the southern boundary of Hawke's Bay County; thence west-
erly and northerly along that boundary to the boundary of Waika-
remoana Electoral District, thence easterly along that boundary and
the southern boundary of Napier Electoral District to the mean high
water mark of the sea; excluding Hastings Electoral District.
