rods and also these metals in scrap form occasioned by the embargo on exports. A copy of the full text of the Minister's letter is available on request to the Commission.

The Minister has required the Commission to make such recommendations as it sees fit including any proposals for remedying any undesirable effects identified.

The Minister has asked that this report be sent to him by 30 June 1981.

The Commission will, accordingly, inquire into this matter. At this stage it requests that any persons or organisations, who wish to apply to be a party, in terms of section 14 of the Act, apply to the Executive Officer of the Commission in writing by Friday, 27 February 1981. It would assist the Commission if all applicants explained the nature of their interest.

If necessary, it is proposed that a party hearing to consider applications received will be held on Tuesday, 10 March 1981, commencing at 10.30 a.m. at the Commission's hearing room, Sixth Floor, Chase NBA House, 163 The Terrace, Wellington.

The main hearing will commence at 10.30 a.m. on Tuesday, 28 April 1981, at the address specified in the paragraph above.

Parties admitted to this inquiry will be required to file copies of their submissions with the Commission by 10 April 1981. Further details will however be advised in due course.

Import Licence Tendering Scheme—Call for Tenders

PURSUANT to the Import Control Regulations 1973, Amendment No. 3 (S.R. 1980/246), the Secretary of Trade and Industry, acting under delegated authority is calling tenders for import licences for the goods specified below. These goods constitute “Lot Three” and the closing time and date for tenders is 5 p.m. on 14 April 1981. Instructions for prospective tenderers and the general terms and conditions which apply to the submission and acceptance of tenders are set out in the Guide to the Import Licence Tendering Scheme. Copies of this guide and tender forms may be obtained from the Department of Trade and Industry and the Customs Department. Tenders should be addressed to the Registrar, Import Licensing Tendering, Department of Trade and Industry, Private Bag, Wellington. Tenders for “Lot Three” will be opened on 15 April 1981, and official results will be published in the New Zealand Gazette.

NOTE—

  1. Tenderers should refer to the Customs Tariff and the Import Licensing Schedule for a definitive description of the goods included in the list above.
  2. Tenderers should be conversant with the various statutes and regulations which importing enterprises are obliged to comply with, such as safety standards, duties and sales tax where relevant.
  3. Tenderers are reminded to use a separate tender bid form for each licence unit bid for. Each bid should be sent in a separate envelope with the tender number marked outside.
  4. For items marked with an asterisk tenderers are required to complete a spare parts and servicing pre-registration form and forward it in a separate envelope to the Registrar, marked “spare parts and servicing pre-registration”.
