that the Rangitata Diversion Race contains at any time sufficient water for the purposes for which the consent is granted, nor shall the granting of this consent impose on Her Majesty the Queen or the Government of New Zealand any liability to pay compensation or damages to any person for the increase or reduction in the water supply to the station from time to time however caused.
- For the purpose of assessing in accordance with the Water Power Regulations 1934, the rental or annual sum payable in respect of this consent, the maximum generating capacity of the scheme shall be assessed at 1.7 MW.
SCHEDULE
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORKS
-
The station will utilise the head of water available across the three drop chutes in the Rangitata Diversion Race situated in Block VI, Shepherd’s Bush Survey District being part R.S. 30240.
-
A new race is to be constructed upstream of the power station to connect with the existing race upstream of and as close to the upper drop chute as is reasonably practical.
-
The existing 6.3 metre head is to be increased to 7.3 metres by raising the banks of the existing race by one metre at the point of connection to the new race. The increased height is to be tapered off to the height of the existing embankment level at such distance upstream thereof as may be determined by hydraulic design considerations.
-
From the new upstream race the water is to pass through a single turbine in a power house to be built across the new race.
-
The nominal installed capacity of the generator driven by the turbine will be approximately 1,700 kW.
-
A spillway with an automatically controlled radial gate is to bypass the water not utilised by the turbine during periods of reduced output or shut-down past the power station into the tailrace channel.
-
A tailrace channel downstream of the power station is to lead the water from the turbine and spillway back into the original race downstream of and as close to the bottom drop chute as is reasonably practical.
All as indicated on the plan marked N.Z.E. 1006 deposited in the office of the Electricity Division of the Ministry of Energy at Wellington.
Dated at Wellington this 30th day of July 1980.
W. F. BIRCH, Minister of Energy.
