Notice to Handle Marine Mammals (Notice No. 2302,
Ag. 9/6/16/1)

PURSUANT to section 5 (5) of the Marine Mammals Protection
Act 1978, the Minister of Fisheries advises that
Dr M. C. Crawley, Senior Lecturer in Zoology, University
of Canterbury, Christchurch, has applied for a permit to
observe, handle, and apply temporary dye-marks to fur seal
pups on the Open Bay Islands, South Westland, between
January and June 1980, and hereby calls for any submissions
regarding this application to be made in writing within 28
days of publication of this notice.

Approval of Sale of Land

I, Colin Campbell Alexander McLachlan, Minister of Transport,
pursuant to the powers vested in me by sections 143A
and 143C (b) of the Harbours Act 1950, and with the concurrence
of the Minister of Finance do hereby specifically
approve the sale by private treaty of the land vested in the
Hawke's Bay Harbour Board and described in the Schedule
hereto subject to the condition that the Hawke's Bay Harbour
Board apply the proceeds from the sale approved hereunder
for the improvement of endowment land remaining vested
in the Harbour Board, and I specify that my approval
hereunder is effective from the 19th day of December 1979.

SCHEDULE

THAT parcel of land containing 842 square metres with
dwelling situated in the Te Whare-O-Maraenui Block, more
or less situated in the City of Napier being Lot 80 on
Deposited Plan 6598 and described in the certificate of title
C2/307, Hawke's Bay Land Registry.

The Traffic (Whakatane District) Notice No. 1, 1980

PURSUANT to the Transport Act 1962, the Minister of Transport
hereby gives the following notice.

NOTICE

  1. This notice may be cited as the Traffic (Whakatane Dis-
    trict) Notice No. 1, 1980.

  2. The areas specified in the First Schedule hereto are
    hereby declared to be closely populated localities for the
    purposes of section 52 of the Transport Act 1962.

  3. The area specified in the Second Schedule hereto is
    hereby declared to be a 70 kilometres an hour speed limit
    area pursuant to regulation 21 (2) of the Traffic Regulations
    1976*.

  4. The Traffic (Whakatane County) Notice No. 3, 1975,
    the 28th day of October 1975†, issued pursuant to section 52
    of the Transport Act 1962 and regulation 27A of the Traffic
    Regulations 1956, is hereby revoked.

FIRST SCHEDULE

SITUATED within Whakatane District at Ohope Beach:

All that area bounded by a line commencing at a point
on the southern side of Wainui Road at the eastern end of
the Bridge over the Maraetotara Stream; thence north-westerly
generally along the western side of Pohutukawa Avenue to
the intersection of the said avenue with Whakatane-Kutarere
Road; thence across Whakatane-Kutarere Road at right angles
from its southern to its northern side; thence north-westerly
generally along the western side of the right of way front-
ing Ohope Beach to the northern end of the said right of
ways; thence due east by a right line to the shore of the
Bay of Plenty; thence south-easterly generally along the said
shore to the mouth of the Maraetotara Stream; thence south-
westerly generally along the eastern bank of the said stream
to the starting point.

All that area bounded by a line commencing at a point
on the southern side of Harbour Road opposite the western
side of Eruini Street; thence easterly generally along the
southern side of Harbour Road to a point 160 metres
measured easterly generally along the said road from Anne
Street; thence due north by a right line across Harbour Road
to the shore of the Bay of Plenty; thence westerly generally
along the said shore to a point due north of the starting
point; thence due south by a right line across Ocean Road
and Harbour Road to the starting point.

SECOND SCHEDULE

SITUATED within Whakatane District at Ohope Beach.

All that area bounded by a line commencing at a point
on the southern side of Wainui Road at the eastern end of
the bridge over the Maraetotara Stream; thence south-
easterly generally by a right line to the western end of
Kowhai Street; thence easterly generally along the southern
side of Kowhai Street to the intersection of the said street
with Wainui Road; thence across Wainui Road at right
angles from its western to its eastern side; thence due north
by a right line to the southern side of Harbour Road; thence
easterly generally along the said side of the said road to a
point opposite the western side of Eruini Street; thence due
north by a right line across Harbour Road and Ocean Road
to the shore of the Bay of Plenty; thence westerly generally
along the said shore to the mouth of the Maraetotara Stream;
thence south-westerly generally along the eastern bank of the
said stream to the starting point.

Notice of Receipt of Application for an International Air
Service Licence

PURSUANT to section 7 of the International Air Services
Licensing Act 1947, notice is hereby given that Air Pegasus
International Airlines Limited has applied for an international
air service licence to operate air services for the carriage
of livestock and bloodstock, as well as other cargo for
scheduled service operators, between New Zealand and
Australia, the Middle East, and points in Asia. Further
details of the proposal may be obtained from the Secretary
for Transport, Ministry of Transport, Private Bag, Wellington.
Any person or organisation desiring to make representations
relating to this application must forward those representations
in writing to reach me on or before 22 February 1980.

Notice Respecting Proposed Alteration to Thames Valley
Drainage District

It is hereby notified that a petition has been presented to
His Excellency the Governor-General, pursuant to section
3 of the Land Drainage Act 1908 praying that the boundaries
of the Thames Valley Drainage Board be altered by the
inclusion of the area described in the Schedule hereto in
the Tahuna Subdivision of the said Board.

All persons affected who object to the proposed alteration
are hereby called upon to lodge any objections thereto in
writing with the Minister of Local Government, Parliament
Buildings, Wellington within 1 month after the date of first
publication of this notice.

This notice was first published on Thursday, 24 January
1980.

SCHEDULE

All that area of land in the South Auckland Land District,
County of Piako, bounded by a line commencing at the
intersection with the western bank of the Piako River and
the northern boundary of Pawhakaoho No. 3 Block in
Block II, Waitoa Survey District, and proceeding westerly
along that northern boundary and the northern boundaries
