CHRISTCHURCH CITY COUNCIL

NOTICE OF INTENTION TO TAKE LAND

NOTICE is hereby given that the Christchurch City Council proposes, under the provisions of the Public Works Act 1928 and its amendments, to take for a public work the land described in the Schedule hereto, such land to be used for works yard, pursuant to the provisions of section 225 of the Local Government Act 1974.

All persons directly affected by the taking of the said land, should if they have any objection to the taking of the said land, not being an objection to the amount or payment of compensation, make a written objection and send it within 40 days from the 22nd day of March 1980, being the date of the first publication of this notice, to the Town and Country Planning Appeal Board, Private Bag, Postal Centre, Wellington, and that if any objection is made in accordance with this notice, a public hearing of the objection will be held, unless the objector otherwise requires, and each objector will be advised of the time and place of the hearing.

SCHEDULE

ALL that piece of land situated in the City of Christchurch containing 387 square metres, or thereabouts, being Lot 1 on Deposited Plan 8448, part of Rural Sections 238 and 239, and being all of the land described in certificate of title, Volume 397, folio 67 (Canterbury Registry). This description refers to that piece of land known as 21 Faraday Street, Christchurch.

NOTICE OF APPLICATION

NOTICE is hereby given that, pursuant to the provisions of the Petroleum Act 1937, the Natural Gas Corporation of New Zealand Ltd. has made an application to the Minister of Energy for a pipeline authorisation to convey natural gas by pipeline from a pressure reducing station on the Oaonui-Huntly Pipeline at Oaonui to a metering and pressure regulating facility at the Opunake Dairy Factory.

In the matter of the Companies Act 1955, and in the matter of HAWKINS HOLDINGS LTD., a public company duly incorporated in New Zealand and having its registered office at Tawa Street, Melville, in the City of Hamilton:

NOTICE is hereby given that the order of the Supreme Court, dated the 8th day of February 1980, confirming the special resolution of the company of the 8th day of August 1979, authorising the company to distribute to holders from time to time of the ordinary shares in the capital of the company the sum of $159,305.70 standing to the credit of the share premium reserve fund prior to making any such distribution an amount equal to the amount to be distributed such capital replacement fund not to be available for the payment of dividends nor without the approval of the Supreme Court for distributions to shareholders but may be applied in paying up unissued shares of the company as fully paid bonus shares, was registered by the Registrar of Companies on the 13th day of March 1980.

NEW ZEALAND WOOL BOARD

PURSUANT to regulation 15 of the Wool Industry Regulations 1978, notice is hereby given that the Adjusted Weighted Average Sale Price for the sale held on 21 March 1980, at Napier, was 267.58 cents per kilogram (greasy basis).

As this price is above the Government Supplementary Minimum Wool Price of 235 cents per kilogram (greasy basis) no supplement is payable on wool until further notice.

There is likewise no grower retention levy payable in terms of section 42 of the Wool Industry Act 1977, as the A.W.A.S.P. is less than the ruling Trigger Price of 300 cents per kilogram (greasy basis).

This revised edition of Mrs Stewart’s book, which was first published in 1964, is a handy colourful guide to the 50 or more plants in New Zealand known or suspected to be toxic to man. The plants are listed in alphabetical order by their common names and each entry has a colour photograph identifying the poisonous part of the plant. The botanical name, a general description of the plant, the toxin, and the symptoms of poisoning are also given. Plants that are toxic if eaten, and touch irritants are dealt with in separate sections. A general instruction on what to do if poisoning occurs or is suspected is featured prominently at the beginning of the book for ready access in emergency. The material in the booklet is useful, succinct, and attractively presented. Although it has wide appeal generally, it is particularly valuable to parents of the young and curious.
