Declaration That Land is a Reserve

Pursuant to the Reserves Act 1977, and to a delegation from the Minister of Lands, the Commissioner of Crown Lands hereby notifies that the following resolution was passed by the Tauranga City Council on the 9th day of June 1980. That, in exercise of the powers conferred on it by section 14 of the Reserves Act 1977, the Tauranga City Council hereby resolves that the piece of land held by the said city in fee simple and, described in the Schedule hereto, shall be, and the same is hereby, declared to be a reserve for local purpose (youth hostel and clubrooms) within the meaning of the said Act.

Pursuant to section 48 of the Local Government Act 1974, the Secretary for Local Government hereby defines, as set out in the Schedule hereto, the boundaries of the Borough of Winton, following their alteration by Order in Council made on 17 March 1980, and published in the New Zealand Gazette, 1980, No. 29, p. 899.

BOUNDARIES OF THE BOROUGH OF WINTON

All that area in the Southland Land District containing 239.66 hectares, more or less, bounded by a line commencing at the intersection of Welsh Road and No. 6 State Highway, being the north-eastern corner of Lot 2, D.P. 4232, Block I, Town of East Winton, and proceeding easterly, by a right line, across No. 6 State Highway and along the southern side of Welsh Road to the western boundary of the Kingston Branch Railway; thence proceeding southerly along the western boundary of that railway and its production to the southern side of No. 96 State Highway (Devon Street); thence easterly along the southern side of No. 96 State Highway to the north-western corner of Section 12, Block IV, Town of East Winton; thence southerly along the western boundaries of the said Section 12, Part Section 7 and Lot 1, D.P. 6713, to the northern side of Moore Road; thence easterly along the northern side of Moore Road to a point in line with the western boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 6988; thence southerly by a right line to and along the western boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 6988, and its production to the northern boundary of Section 25, Block IV, Town of East Winton; thence westerly along the northern boundary of the aforesaid Section 25 and that boundary produced to the western boundary of the Kingston Branch Railway; thence south-easterly along the south-western side of the said railway to a point in line with the southern boundary of Lot 6, D.P. 1554; thence westerly by a right line to and along the southern boundary of the said Lot 6 and its production across No. 6 State Highway to a point in line with the western side of the said State Highway; thence southerly to and along the western side of the said highway to the intersection of the western boundary of the said State Highway with a line 50.29 metres south of and parallel to the southern side of Dejoux Road; thence westerly along a right line parallel to and 50.29 metres from the south side of Dejoux Road to the eastern boundary of Part Section 2, Block VI, Winton Hundred; thence northerly along the eastern boundary of the said Section 2 to the south-east corner of Lot 8, Deeds Plan 119; thence westerly and northerly along the southern and western boundaries of the said Lot 8 to and across a public road and continuing northerly along the eastern boundaries of Lots 22, 21, and 20, Deeds Plan 119, aforesaid; thence westerly along the northern boundary of the said Lot 20 to the middle of a flood channel; thence northerly, generally, along the middle of the said flood channel to its intersection with the eastern boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 3570; thence northerly along the eastern boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 3570 and Lot 23, D.P. 2821 and the production of that boundary across Gerrard Road and continuing northerly along the western boundary of Jane Street, and Lot 19, D.P. 5259, to the intersection of the last-mentioned boundary, with the middle of a flood channel; thence generally, northerly, along the middle of the said flood channel; through Part Sections 6, 7, and Lot 1, D.P. 10232, Block VI, Winton Hundred, to the western boundary of Block I, Town of East Winton; thence northerly along the western boundary of the Town of East Winton to the north-western corner of Section 7, Block I, aforesaid; thence proceeding easterly and southerly along the northern and north-eastern boundaries of the said Section 7 and the production of the last-mentioned boundary across Welsh Road to the point of commencement.

Excluding Part of Land from a Maori Reservation

Whereas by notice in the Gazette, dated 3 September 1970, published 10 September 1970, No. 54, p. 1605, the Maori freehold land described in the Schedule hereto was set apart as a Maori Reservation for the purposes of a meeting place, marae, recreation ground, and burial ground, for the common use and benefit of members of the Ngati Whaoa, Ngati Tahu, and Ngati Whakaue tribes and the Maori people generally; and whereas it is proposed to exclude a part of the said land from the said Maori Reservation.
