Exemption of Certain Motor Cycles from the Requirements to be Fitted with Direction-Indicator Lamps

Pursuant to subclause (1) of regulation 90 of the Traffic Regulations 1976*, the Secretary for Transport hereby exempts vehicles of the type specified in the Schedule hereto from the requirements of regulation 63 of the said Regulations.

Notice of Approval of Amendments to Bylaws

Pursuant to sections 8A and 165 of the Harbours Act 1950, I, Robin Paul Taylor, of the Ministry of Transport, in exercise of powers delegated by the Minister of Transport, hereby approve the Schedule of charges to the Rodney County Council Reserves, Public Places, Foreshores, and Waters Bylaw* passed and adopted at meetings of the said Council on 1 May 1978 and 25 May 1978, the amendment to come into force from 1 April 1980.

Levy on the Sale of Tobacco Leaf Produced in New Zealand

Notice is hereby given, pursuant to section 21 (1) of the Tobacco Growing Industry Act 1974, as amended by section 5 of the Tobacco Growing Industry Act 1976, that the Minister of Trade and Industry has approved a recommendation of the Tobacco Board that:

The rate of levy payable to the Board by, or on behalf of growers of leaf produced in New Zealand and sold for manufacture after the date of this notice shall be increased to 4 cents per kilogram.

Industries Development Commission Notice No. 1980/1—Inquiry Concerning the Industry Engaged in the Packing of Goods

  1. In a notice No. 1979/12 in the New Zealand Gazette of 13 September 1979, No. 84, p. 2699, the Commission set out the terms of reference for the inquiry into the packing industry.

  2. Since then, copies of guidelines for submissions and explanatory notes have been sent to interested parties and written submissions invited by 31 January 1980.

  3. A position paper, based on submissions received has now been circulated to all interested parties and will be the subject of a public hearing. The hearing will commence on 18 March 1980 in the Commission's Hearing Room, Eighth Floor, Cumberland House, Upper Willis Street, Wellington, at 10.30 a.m., and will continue on subsequent days as required.

  4. Parties to the inquiry should, in the light of the Commission's position paper, either lodge an updated submission, or, if preferred, relodge their original submission, to reach the Commission no later than 7 March 1980. Eleven copies of public submissions and nine copies of confidential submissions are required. All submissions will be required to be attested to under oath and parties may be subject to cross examination by other parties and/or the Commission.
