Disabled Persons Employment Promotion Act 1960—Approval of Organisation

PURSUANT to section 3 (1) of the Disabled Persons Employment Promotion Act 1960, the Minister of Labour hereby approves the New Zealand Society for the Intellectually Handicapped (Incorporated), Wairoa Branch, for the purposes of the said Act.

The Central Waikato Electric Power Board Electric Lines Licence 1964, Amendment No. 4

PURSUANT to the Electricity Act 1968, the Minister of Energy hereby amends the Central Waikato Electric Power Board Electric Lines Licence 1964* as amended by the amendments specified in the Schedule hereto, by adding to the First Schedule the following:

(5) An electric line for the transmission only of electricity commencing at a point on the western boundary of the Central Waikato Electric Power Board area of supply and proceeding along the east side of Dey Street, the south side of Henry Street, the west side of Fox Street, the south side of Fox Lane and south side of Cobham Drive to a point on the north bank of the Waikato River where the boundary of the Waikato Electric Power Board area of supply and Cobham Drive intersect; the said electric line being more particularly shown on the plan marked N.Z.E. 1003, deposited in the office of the Electricity Division of the Ministry of Energy at Wellington.

The Manukau Technical Institute Notice 1980

PURSUANT to section 69 of the Education Act 1964, the Minister of Education hereby gives the following notice.

NOTICE

  1. (1) This notice may be cited as the Manukau Technical Institute Notice 1980.
    (2) This notice shall come into force on the 21st day of November 1980.

  2. There shall be a Board of Governors to be known as the Council of the Manukau Technical Institute which shall control the Manukau Technical Institute.

  3. The Council of the Manukau Technical Institute shall be constituted as follows:

(a) Two members appointed by the Associations of Employers in local industries listed in the First Schedule to this notice;
(b) Two members appointed by the Associations of Employers in local industries listed in the Second Schedule to this notice;
(c) One member appointed by the Auckland Branch of the New Zealand Institute of Architects;
(d) One member appointed by the Auckland Branch of the New Zealand Institute of Engineers;
(e) One member appointed by the Auckland Branch of the New Zealand Society of Accountants;
(f) One member appointed by the Manukau City Council;
(g) One member appointed by the Council of the University of Auckland;
(h) One member appointed by the Northern Region of the New Zealand Secondary School Boards’ Association to represent the controlling authorities of secondary schools in the area in which the Institute is situated;
(i) One member who shall be the Principal of the Manukau Technical Institute;
(j) One member who shall represent the staff of the Manukau Technical Institute and shall be elected by full-time teachers employed by the Board of Governors and who shall be a teacher employed by the Board;
(k) One member who shall represent the ancillary staff of Manukau Technical Institute and shall be elected by the full-time ancillary staff employed by the Board of Governors and who shall be a full-time ancillary staff member employed by the Board;

(1) (i) One member who shall be a representative of the students of Manukau Technical Institute and who shall be elected to a term of office of 1 year by students of the Institute and who shall be a student of the Institute;

(ii) For the purpose of subparagraph (i) of paragraph (1) of this clause a “student of the Institute” shall be defined as any student enrolled in a course of study at the Manukau Technical Institute at the time of the calling of nominations for the election of the student representative.

(m) Not more than three members may be co-opted by the Board of Governors itself if and when it thinks fit.

  1. The Regional Superintendent of Education, Auckland, or deputy, shall be an associate member of the Council and shall be entitled to be present at any meeting of the Council or of any committee of the Council and to speak at the meeting; but shall not be entitled to vote at any such meeting.

  2. (1) Subject to the provisions of this clause and the provisions of subparagraph (i) of paragraph (1) of clause 3 of this notice, the members of the Council of the Manukau Technical Institute shall hold office for a term of 3 years but may from time to time be reappointed.

(2) Every co-opted member of the Council shall be appointed for such term, not exceeding 3 years, as the Council thinks fit.

(3) Except in the case of a casual vacancy or as otherwise provided in this clause every member shall hold office until the 1st day of December in the third year after his or her appointment and if on the 1st day of December the appointment of that member’s successor has not been notified to the Council, the member shall continue to hold office until the date on which that appointment is notified.

(4) If any member dies, or personally notifies resignation by writing, addressed to the Council or the Chairman or the Secretary thereof or is absent without leave from the meetings of the Council for 3 consecutive months, or while holding office becomes ineligible to remain a member by reason of disability, insolvency, neglect of duty, or misconduct, the casual vacancy so created shall be filled as soon as practicable thereafter by the appointment of a member in the manner in which the vacating member was appointed and the member appointed to fill the vacancy shall hold office for the residue of the term of office of the member who is replaced.

(5) The powers of the Council shall not be affected by any vacancy in the membership thereof.

(6) The Manukau Technical Institute Notice 1975* is hereby revoked.
