over, and out of the areas described in the First Schedule
hereto without payment.

  1. Nothing in this order shall authorise the Authority to
    do or cause to be done anything repugnant to or inconsistent
    with any law relating to the Customs or with any regulation
    of the Minister of Customs or with any provision of the
    Harbours Act 1950, or its amendments or any regulations
    made thereunder that are or may hereafter be in force.

  2. The rights, powers, and privileges conferred by this order
    shall not apply to those portion of the area described in the
    First Schedule hereto required for securing the shore end of
    any telegraph cables that are at the commencement of this
    order or may at any time subsequently be laid down within
    the area described in the First Schedule hereto.

  3. The Authority may enclose any part or parts of the area
    described in the First Schedule hereto for the purpose of
    holding sports meetings, or games and may, by bylaw fix a
    charge for the admission to any such enclosed part or parts;
    provided that the number of days for which any particular
    part of that area described in the First Schedule hereto is
    enclosed shall not exceed six days in any one calendar year.

  4. Nothing in this order shall authorise the Authority to
    remove or cause to be removed from the area described in
    the First Schedule hereto any stone, shingle, sand, boulders,
    silt, mud, shell or other material without the consent in
    writing of the Minister being first obtained.

  5. Subject to the provisions of section 8A of the Act, the
    Authority for and within the waters of the area described
    in the First Schedule hereto—

(a) May by bylaw, made by the Authority, do anything
which a harbour board may do by bylaw under
section 323 of the Act.

(b) May jointly appoint harbourmasters and their own and
other officers and define or limit their powers or
duties.

  1. The powers, functions, duties and authorities conferred
    on the authority by this order may at any time be resumed
    by the Governor-General, without payment of any compensa-
    tion whatever, on giving the Authority at least six calendar
    months’ notice in writing. Any such notice shall be sufficient
    if given by the Minister and delivered at or posted to each
    council at the last known address of the council in New
    Zealand.

Appointments, Promotions, Extensions, Transfers, Resigna-
tions, and Retirements of Officers of the New Zealand
Army

PURSUANT to section 35 of the Defence Act 1971, His Excel-
lency the Governor-General has approved the following
appointments, promotions, extensions, transfers, resignations
and retirements of officers of the New Zealand Army.

REGULAR FORCE

ROYAL REGIMENT OF N.Z. ARTILLERY

Captain G. R. Williams is re-engaged until 4 October 1993.

ROYAL N.Z. ARMOURED CORPS

Lieutenant-Colonel (temp. Colonel) A. L. Jones to be
Colonel and is transferred to the Colonels’ List, with seniority
from 26 July 1980, and effect from 3 September 1980.

THE CORPS OF ROYAL N.Z. ENGINEERS

Major Andrew Anderson, M.B.E., is posted to the Retired
List, with effect from 24 September 1980.

Captain Johannes Hermanus Kamp is posted to the Retired
List, in the rank of Captain, with effect from 15 September
1980.

ROYAL N.Z. CORPS OF SIGNALS

K38373 Warrant Officer Class I Leon Raymon Orange is
appointed to a commission in the rank of Lieutenant and
Quartermaster, with seniority and effect from 8 September
1980.

Lieutenant B. H. Drummond to be temp. Captain, with
effect from 27 August 1980.

ROYAL N.Z. INFANTRY REGIMENT

Lieutenant-Colonel (temp. Colonel) A. G. Armstrong,
to be Colonel and is transferred to the Colonels’ List, with
seniority from 25 July 1980, and effect from 3 September
1980.

Major P. L. Holes is transferred to the Supernumerary
List, with effect from 25 August 1980.

Captain (temp. Major) and Quartermaster P. E. Wisch-
nowsky, M.B.E., is re-engaged until 4 March 1983.

The seniority of Captain N. A. Philp is ante-dated to 7
March 1975.

ROYAL N.Z. CORPS OF TRANSPORT

Captain and Quartermaster James McIntyre is posted to
the Retired List, with effect from 1 September 1980.

ROYAL N.Z. ARMY ORDNANCE CORPS

Lieutenant L. J. Gardiner, B.A.(MIL), is transferred from
the Reserve of Officers, General List, Royal N.Z. Army
Ordnance Corps, in the rank of Lieutenant (temp. Captain),
with seniority from 2 August 1976, and effect from 2 Sep-
tember 1980, on a fixed term engagement.

2nd Lieutenant Jacqueline Margaret Knight resigns her
commission with effect from 24 September 1980.

THE CORPS OF ROYAL N.Z. ELECTRICAL AND MECHANICAL
ENGINEERS

Lieutenant-Colonel Michael McRobie Jameson is transferred
to the Reserve of Officers, General List, in the rank of
Lieutenant-Colonel, with effect from 1 September 1980.

ROYAL N.Z. CHAPLAINS’ DEPARTMENT

Chaplain 3rd Class J. I. Manihera (Methodist) is re-engaged
until 19 January 1985.

N.Z. ARMY LEGAL SERVICE

Lieutenant V. R. Ewart, L.L.M., to be Captain, with
seniority and effect from 3 September 1980, and is re-engaged
until 2 March 1984.

ROYAL N.Z. PROVOST CORPS

Flight Lieutenant Anthony John Kevin George is trans-
ferred from the Royal New Zealand Air Force, in the rank
of Lieutenant, with seniority from 15 September 1978, and
effect from 15 September 1980. To be temp. Captain, with
effect from 15 September 1980.

ROYAL N.Z. ARMY EDUCATION CORPS

Major William Hugh McGunnigle, H.N.C., is transferred to
the Reserve of Officers, General List, in the rank of Major,
with effect from 24 August 1980.

The seniority of Lieutenant M. D. Sinclair, B.A., is post-
dated to 28 November 1977.

ROYAL N.Z. NURSING CORPS

Major N. J. Taylor, DIP.N., is transferred to the Super-

Lieutenant Stanley Alan George Foote is transferred to the

2nd Battalion (Canterbury and Nelson, Marlborough and
West Coast), RNZIR

The commission of 2nd Lieutenant (on prob.) P. M. King
is confirmed, with effect from 30 October 1978.

3rd Battalion (Auckland (Countess of Ranfurly’s Own) and
Northland), RNZIR

The following are appointed to commissions in the rank
of 2nd Lieutenant (on prob.), with effect from 31 May 1980:
