Appointments, Promotions, Extensions, Transfers, Resignations, and Retirements of Officers of the Royal New Zealand Navy

PURSUANT to section 35 of the Defence Act 1971, His Excellency, the Governor-General has approved the following appointments, promotions, extensions, transfers, resignations, and retirements of officers of the New Zealand Naval Forces.

ROYAL NEW ZEALAND NAVY

Commodore Roy Herbert Longland Humby, C.B.E., is placed on the Retired List of RNZN Officers, with effect from 29 August 1979.

Captain C. J. Steward to be acting Commodore, with effect from 3 October 1979, and Commodore, with seniority and effect from 5 October 1979.

Commander I. L. S. B. Bradley, M.P.P., B.C.A., A.M.B.I.M., to be acting Captain, with effect from 1 October 1979, and temp. Captain, with effect from 8 October 1979.

The following are placed on the Retired List of RNZN Officers, with effect from 6 August 1979:

Lieutenant Commander Brian Alan Savage, C.ENG., M.I.MAR.E.

Lieutenant Commander David Philip Hollman, C.ENG., M.I.MAR.E.

The commission of Lieutenant Commander D. T. Watson is extended to 27 May 1994.

Instructor Lieutenant Geoffrey Clough is placed on the Emergency List of the RNZN until 27 August 1981, with effect from 28 August 1979.

Lieutenant Peter William Monk is placed on the Emergency List of the RNZN until 14 September 1981, with effect from 15 September 1979.

The appointment of Lieutenant A. T. Golds is extended to 19 March 1988.

The appointment of Lieutenant (on prob.) W. K. McElwain, A.M.N.Z.I.H.V.E., is confirmed with effect from 3 April 1979.

Sub Lieutenant T. R. Rae to be Lieutenant, with seniority from 14 February 1979, and effect from 17 August 1979.

Sub Lieutenant (temp. Lieutenant) G. D. Honnor, to be Lieutenant, with seniority and effect from 22 October 1979.

Sub Lieutenant Julie Johnson is placed on the Emergency List of the RNZN until 24 August 1983, with effect from 25 August 1979.

Lim Yoke Thin is appointed to the RNZN in the rank of Lieutenant, with seniority from 25 September 1973, and effect from 25 September 1979; terminating on 14 September 1989.

ROYAL NEW ZEALAND NAVAL RESERVE

Richard Thomas Weston is appointed to a commission in the rank of Lieutenant Commander, with seniority from 9 June 1977, and effect from 1 September 1979; terminating on 30 December 1986.

ROYAL NEW ZEALAND NAVAL VOLUNTEER RESERVE

The appointment of Lieutenant Commander C. J. Olliver, C.ENG., F.I.MAR.E., M.N.Z.I.E., REG.ENGR., is extended to 3 October 1985.

Lieutenant Commander James Burke Randle, (RN Retired List) is appointed to the RNZNVR in the rank of Lieutenant Commander, with seniority from 24 February 1979, and effect from 1 October 1979; terminating on 11 July 1992.

EMERGENCY LIST OF THE ROYAL NEW ZEALAND NAVY

The period of service of Lieutenant Alexander John Chandler on the Emergency List of the RNZN is terminated, with effect from 30 October 1979.

Promotion

Transfer to Reserve

Group Captain Wilfred Watson, C.ENG., M.I.E.R.E., is transferred to the Reserve of Air Force Officers until 31 October 1981, with effect from 1 November 1979.

Squadron Leader Noel James Work, M.B.E., is retired, with effect from 7 November 1979.
