Exemption of Certain Motor Vehicles from the Restrictions as to Flashing Red Lights

PURSUANT to subclause (8) of regulation 67 of the Traffic Regulations 1976*, the Secretary for Transport hereby approves the fitting of one or more flashing or revolving red lights on vehicles, as described in the Schedule hereto, for operation only during a national or civil defence emergency (as defined by the Civil Defence Act 1962), or when a declaration of state of such emergency is imminent, and only when the vehicles are used by or under the direction of the regional commissioner or his deputy for immediate travel to the affected area.

SCHEDULE

MINISTRY of Civil Defence vehicles which are painted white in colour, with the civil defence crest and the words “CIVIL DEFENCE” in blue letters, at least 150 mm in height, prominently displayed on each side.

Classification of Reserve
