The Christchurch District Drainage Board (Remuneration and Allowances) Notice 1979

NOTICE

  1. Title and commencement—(1) This notice may be cited as the Christchurch District Drainage Board (Remuneration and Allowances) Notice 1979.
    (2) This notice shall come into force on the day after the date of its notification in the Gazette.

  2. Annual Allowance to Chairman and Deputy Chairman—The Board may pay:
    (a) To the Chairman, an annual allowance not exceeding $3,650;
    (b) To the Deputy Chairman, in addition to any remuneration which he may be paid in terms of clause 3 of this notice, an annual allowance not exceeding 10 percent of the allowance paid to the Chairman pursuant to paragraph (a) of this clause.

  3. Remuneration of members—(1) In this clause, unless the context otherwise requires, “committee” includes a sub-committee.
    (2) Subject to subclauses (3) and (5) of this clause, the Board may pay:
    (a) Subject to section 19 (2) of the Christchurch District Drainage Act 1951, in the case of a member who is Chairman of any standing committee of the Board (not being an acting Chairman):
    (i) Remuneration at a rate not exceeding $20 for each meeting of that committee attended by him as its Chairman; and
    (ii) Remuneration at a rate not exceeding $17 for each meeting of the Board attended by him or of any meeting of any other committee of the Board attended by him as a member of that committee, which he is required to attend in his capacity as a member of the Board;
    (b) In the case of any other member, remuneration at a rate not exceeding $17 for each meeting of the Board attended by him or of any meeting of a committee of the Board attended by him as a member of that committee or, where he is not a member of that committee, which he is required to attend in his capacity as a member of the Board.

(3) No remuneration under this clause may be paid by the Board to any member in respect of his attendance at more than 1 meeting in any one day of 24 hours beginning at midnight:
Provided also that where a meeting is adjourned to a subsequent day or days, each day on which that meeting is held shall be deemed to be a separate meeting for the purposes of payment of remuneration.

Provided also that a meeting which commences before midnight on any day and continues past midnight shall be deemed to have concluded before midnight for the purposes of the payment of remuneration.

(4) No remuneration under this clause shall be paid to the Chairman.
(5) No member shall be paid for his attendance at more than 40 meetings of the Board in any one period of 12 months.
