State Forest Land Set Apart as a Dedicated Area—Todea Barbara Ecological Area Notice 1978

PURSUANT to section 15 of the Forests Act 1949 (as inserted by section 2 of the Forests Amendment Act 1973, and amended by section 5 of the Forests Amendment Act 1976), the Minister of Forests hereby gives notice that the land described in the Schedule hereto is hereby set apart and dedicated for the purpose of protection, maintenance, and management of trees and other plants, and for the protection of native wildlife consistent with the proper use and management of State forest land. The State forest land so dedicated shall be known as the Todea Barbara Ecological Area.

NOTES:

1. The dedicated area situated in Waitangi State Forest 193, Auckland Conservancy, contains the most southern known occurrence of the fern Todea Barbara. The prime object of management of the ecological area is to preserve the presence of this fern in its natural state.
2. Camping or lighting of fires within the dedicated area is prohibited.
3. No felling or removal of native trees or plants or disturbance of the soil is permitted except for scientific or forest wildlife management purposes as approved by the Minister of Forests.
