Directing the Sale of Leasehold Estates in Land in the City
of Dunedin

At the Government House at Wellington this 14th day of
August 1978

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL
PURSUANT to the Public Works Act 1928, His Excellency the
Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent
of the Executive Council, hereby directs the sale of the lease-
hold estates in the land described in the Schedule hereto,
held from the Dunedin City Council by Her Majesty the
Queen for terms of 21 years from the 1st day of October
1976, under and by virtue of Memorandum of Lease No.
486788 as to the land first described and Memorandum of
Lease No. 486789 as to the land secondly described, Otago
Land Registry, the leasehold estates in the land being no
longer required for the purpose for which they were acquired.

All those pieces of land in the City of Dunedin, described
as follows:

Appointing a Member of the National Roads Board

Assistant Commissioner of Works, to be a member of the
National Roads Board in place of the former Assistant Com-
missioner of Works, John Newton Leon Searle.

General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council, hereby appoints

Peter Graham Yeoman

of Blenheim, farm advisory officer, Ministry of Agriculture
and Fisheries, to be a member of the Marlborough Catchment
Board for a period of 3 years from and including the 23rd
day of September 1978.

The Hawera District Constitution Order 1978

At the Government Buildings at Wellington this 18th day of
September 1978

THE HON. J. B. GORDON PRESIDING IN COUNCIL
PURSUANT to the Local Government Act 1974, His Excellency
the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and
consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the follow-
ing order:

O R D E R

  1. Title and commencement—(1) This order may be cited
    as the Hawera District Constitution Order 1978.
    (2) This order shall come into force on the 1st day of
    October 1978.

  2. Hawera District—The districts of the Borough of Hawera
    and the County of Hawera are hereby united into one district
    under the name of Hawera District (hereinafter
    referred to as the district).

  3. Dissolution of Hawera Borough Council and Hawera
    County Council—The Hawera Borough Council and the
    Hawera County Council (hereinafter referred to as the
    uniting authorities) are hereby dissolved.

  4. Hawera District Council—The council of the district
    shall be a district council under the name of “The Hawera
    District Council” (hereinafter referred to as the district
    council).

  5. Community and community council of Normanby—The
    community and community council of Normanby shall ensure
    as if constituted by the district council.

  6. Representation on district council—The district council
    shall comprise a mayor, to be elected by the electors of the
    district, and for a period of not less than 7 years from
    the commencement of this order, 14 councillors; and the
    district shall, for the purpose of representation for the said
    period, be divided into 4 wards having representation on the
    district council as follows:

Hawera Ward—comprising the area of the former Borough
of Hawera (7 councillors);

Normanby Ward—comprising the area of Normanby
community (1 councillor);

Ohangai Ward—comprising the area of the Ararata and
Mokoia Ridings of the former County of Hawera (3
councillors);

Okaiawa Ward—comprising the area of the Hawera Riding
of the former County of Hawera other than the area
comprising the Normanby community (3 councillors).

  1. Transitional members of district council—Notwithstand-
    ing the provisions of clause 6 of this order, until the mayor
    and councillors of the district council, to be elected at the next
    triennial general election of members of local authorities (to
    be held in 1980), come into office, the members of the district
    council shall comprise the persons who held office as Mayor,
    Chairman, and Councillors of the uniting authorities immed-
