Appointment of the Waikato County Council to Control and Manage a Reserve

PURSUANT to the Reserves Act 1977, and to a delegation from the Minister of Lands, the Assistant Director of Reserves of the Department of Lands and Survey hereby appoints the Waikato County Council to control and manage the reserve described in the Schedule hereto subject to the provisions of the said Act, as a reserve for recreation purposes.

SOUTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT—WAIKATO COUNTY

961 square metres, more or less, being Section 4, Town of Te Kauwhata, situated in Block XV, Maramarua Survey District. S.O. Plan 17103A.

Reservation of Land

In the matter of the Life Insurance Act 1908, proposed release of deposit:

PACIFIC REINSURANCE LTD. (now Marac Fire and General Insurance Ltd.) has given notice to the Public Trustee that it has ceased to carry on life reinsurance insurance business in New Zealand and that it proposes to withdraw the deposit which has been made by it pursuant to section 3 of the above-mentioned Act.

The Public Trustee therefore gives notice pursuant to section 12 (2) of the above-mentioned Act, that, being satisfied that no moneys are insured or contracted to be reinsured by the company, in or by policies and other contracts issued, granted, or entered into in New Zealand by the company and still in force he proposes to release to the company, on or after the 2nd day of August 1978, the deposit made with him by the company.

Any objections to the release of the deposit should be lodged with the Public Trustee at the Public Trust Office, Lambton Quay, Wellington 1, on or before the 26th day of July 1978.

Honours and Awards

His Excellency the Governor-General has announced the award of The Queen’s Commendation for Brave Conduct to Peter Crichton, First Officer, Christchurch Prison (Addington), Department of Justice

for services on the evening of 18 August 1977 when he responded, alone and unarmed, to an emergency call to assist four officers who had been attacked and disabled by four remand prisoners. He himself was attacked and knocked unconscious by the escaping prisoners.

Unclaimed Property—Notice of Election by the Public Trustee to Become Manager Under Part V of the Public Trust Office Act 1957

WHEREAS Colin Halketh Greenwood, formerly of Auckland is the owner of all that parcel of land described in the Schedule hereto, and whereas the said parcel of land was vested in the said Colin Halketh Greenwood as the administrator of the estate of Joseph Greenwood, deceased, and as the residuary beneficiary under the will of the said Joseph Greenwood, and whereas it has been reported to the Public Trustee that the said Colin Halketh Greenwood is dead and that the two executors of the will of the said Colin Halketh Greenwood are both dead and that no other person has been appointed, the administrator either of the estate of the said Joseph Greenwood or the estate of the said Colin Halketh Greenwood, and whereas the gross value of the said land (as estimated by the Public Trustee) does not exceed $4,000, and for the purposes of subsection (2) of section 80 of the Public Trust Office Act 1957, the Public Trustee is satisfied that in order to secure the development or better utilisation of the said land, the Public Trustee should become the manager thereof, now therefore the Public Trustee in exercise of the authority conferred upon him by the said subsection (2) of section 80 of the said Act hereby elects to be manager of the said land under Part V of the said Act.

SCHEDULE

ALL that parcel of land at Titirangi near Auckland containing 500.29 square metres, be the same a little more or less, being situate in the Parish of Waikomiti of a uniform width throughout of 2.1 metres, and being 53.47 metres in length, more or less being part Allotment 53, Parish of Waikomiti, bounded on the west by South Titirangi Road on the north by the land described in certificate of title 30A/1147, and being part of Allotment 39 of the Parish of Waikomiti, and on the south by the land described in certificate of title, 10D/1245 (North Auckland Registry), being Lot 1 on Deposited Plan 46852, part Allotment 53, Parish of Waikomiti, which said parcel of land is comprised in Crown Grant registered in the Deeds Registry Office at Auckland as Number 10223, to one Joseph Greenwood, and in subsequent conveyance registered in the Deeds Registry Office as Number 44920, bearing date the 8th day of August 1969 to Colin Halketh Greenwood, of 2 Blenheim Place, Mount Zion, Lumbridge, in the County of Kent, Gentleman, as administrator of the Will annexed of the estate of the said Joseph Greenwood.
