GENERAL PUBLICATIONS
ADMINISTRATION IN NEW ZEALAND’S MULTI-RACIAL SOCIETY
Edited by R. H. Brookes and I. H. Kawharu
138 p. $2
Race is a word which nowadays arouses strong feelings. In New Zealand there is little opposition in principle to the Government’s policy of integration, but its success depends on the skill with which it is implemented.
Series No. 13. (New Zealand Institute of Public Administration.)
AGRICULTURE 1974–75 SHEEP STATISTICAL BULLETIN
DEPARTMENT OF STATISTICS
8 p. 1977. $1
Gives the final statistical tables for sheep in New Zealand for the year ended 30 June 1975.
ATOLL
By Grahame Keen
47 p. 1976. 80c

BALANCE OF PAYMENTS 1975–76
31 p. 1977. $1.10
Detailed statistics extending and supplementing information released earlier in summary form. The statement is divided into two sections:
(a) The Current Account, showing the results of the year’s trading with other countries when services as well as goods are included:
(b) Capital Account, recording all known changes in claims on, or liabilities to, the rest of the world.
Department of Statistics.
BETWEEN GOVERNMENTS AND BANKS
By Dr Hawke
244 p. $7.50
The Reserve Bank of New Zealand was established in 1933–34 but today’s institution bears little resemblance to the one that was originally constructed by the 1933 legislation. The author, with a combination of historical and economic skill, covers the story and makes an assessment of the Bank’s performance to date. A valuable contribution to New Zealand’s historical record.
A BIBLIOGRAPHY OF PRINTED MAORI TO 1900
NATIONAL MUSEUM MONOGRAPH NO. 7
By Herbert W. Williams
222 p. 1975. $4.25
The most important collections of Maori books and pamphlets are mentioned in this bibliography. A short review has been made of the Maori literature dealt with and an endeavour has been made to trace the history of the various mission and other private presses concerned. Any work, however small, printed wholly in Maori, or in Maori with a translation has been included; so also has any work dealing wholly with the Maori language—such as a dictionary.

By Paul M. Hurst, Ph.D.
