Declaring Land Taken for Road in Blocks VI and X, Cape Survey District, County of Taranaki

Pursuant to section 32 of the Public Works Act 1928, the Minister of Works and Development hereby declares that, sufficient agreements to that effect having been entered into, the land described in the Schedule hereto is hereby taken for road and shall vest in the Chairman, Councillors, and Inhabitants of the County of Taranaki, from and after the 13th day of April 1978.

State Forest Land set apart as a Dedicated Area—the Pukewhau Ecological Area Notice 1977

Pursuant to section 15 of the Forests Act 1949 (as inserted by section 2 of the Forests Amendment Act 1973, and amended by section 5 of the Forests Amendment Act 1976) the Minister of Forests hereby gives notice that the land described in the Schedule hereto is hereby set apart and dedicated for the purposes of protection, maintenance, and management of trees and other plants, and for the protection of native wildlife consistent with the proper use and management of State forest land. The State forest land so dedicated shall be known as the Pukewhau Ecological Area.

Notes:

1. The dedicated area situated within Waitangi S.F. 193, Auckland Conservancy, contains a remnant of former podocarp-hardwood forest and hardwood scrub of the region and is inhabited by kiwis. The prime object of management of this ecological area is to ensure that the bush area is reserved for the preservation of a kiwi habitat.
2. Camping or lighting of fires within the dedicated area is prohibited.
3. No felling or removal of timber, forest produce, native plants, or disturbance of the soil is permitted, except for scientific or forest or wildlife management purposes as approved by the Minister of Forests.
