Appointments, Promotions, Extensions, Transfers, Resignations, and Retirements of Officers of the New Zealand Army

PURSUANT to section 35 of the Defence Act 1971, His Excellency the Governor-General has approved the following appointments, promotions, extensions, transfers, resignations, and retirements of officers of the New Zealand Army.

REGULAR FORCE

ROYAL REGIMENT OF N.Z. ARTILLERY

J37222 Warrant Officer Class 1 John Basil Rout, Royal Regiment of N.Z. Artillery, is appointed to a commission in the rank of Lieutenant and Quartermaster, with seniority and effect from 1 March 1977.

Major and Quartermaster John Edward Hancox is transferred from the Reserve of Officers, General List, Royal N.Z. Army Ordnance Corps, in the rank of Captain and Quartermaster, with seniority from 19 March 1975 and effect from 16 January 1978.

Captain R. H. Williams to be temp. Major, with effect from 26 January 1978.

Lieutenant (W) Patricia Ann Scaife, B.A., is transferred from the Territorial Force (RNZAOC) in her present rank, with seniority from 9 December 1974 and effect from 9 December 1977.

Captain (temp. Major) R. K. Storey to be Major, with seniority and effect from 14 December 1977.

Captain S. Dickson is re-engaged until retiring age for rank, with effect from 10 January 1978.

2nd Lieutenant (W) J. L. Castell to be Lieutenant (W), with seniority and effect from 20 December 1977.

Chork Yan Lcc, M.B., CH.B., B.A.O.(DUBL.), is appointed to a commission in the rank of Major, with seniority from 16 December 1976 and effect from 16 December 1977.

Heather Janet Norman, B.D.S., is appointed to a commission on a Special Dental Engagement until 8 July 1982, in the rank of Lieutenant (W), with seniority from 9 December 1976 and effect from 9 January 1978.

ROYAL N.Z. CHAPLAINS’ DEPARTMENT

Chaplain 3rd Class, Barry Wilkin Neal (Methodist) is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, General List, in the rank of Chaplain 4th Class, with effect from 2 February 1978.

The Rev. Rodney William McInnes (Baptist) is appointed to a commission, in the rank of Chaplain 4th Class, with seniority from 5 January 1972 and effect from 5 January 1978.

J44214 Staff Sergeant Michael Holt is appointed to a commission in the rank of Lieutenant and Quartermaster, with seniority and effect from 29 January 1978.

ROYAL N.Z. ARMY EDUCATION CORPS

Captain Trevor Bruce Powell, M.A., DIP.TCHG., is transferred from the Reserve of Officers, General List, Royal N.Z. Army Education Corps, in his present rank and seniority, with effect from 13 January 1978.

Captain B. Whitworth, B.A., B.SC., M.A.(PSYCH.), is re-engaged until retiring age for rank.

William Hugh McGunnigle is appointed to a commission for an initial period of 3 years in the rank of Major, with seniority and effect from 24 August 1977.

Peter William Nelson, DIP.TCHG., is appointed to a commission for an initial period of 3 years in the rank of Captain, with seniority from 16 December 1976, and effect from 8 October 1977.
