Reservation of Land

Pursuant to the Land Act 1948, and to a delegation from the
Minister of Lands, the Assistant Director of Land Adminis-
tration of the Department of Lands and Survey hereby sets

Amending a Notice Setting Apart Land to be Part of the
Opua Scenic Reserve

Pursuant to the Land Act 1948, and to a delegation from the
Minister of Lands, the Assistant Director of Land Adminis-
tration of the Department of Lands and Survey hereby amends
an error in the notice dated 23 March 1978, and published
in New Zealand Gazette, No. 23, 30 March 1978, p. 724, by
deleting from the said notice the land described in the
Schedule hereto.

North Auckland Land District—Bay of Islands County—
Opua Scenic Reserve

1011 square metres, more or less, being Section 5 of Block
IX, Town of Opua, situated in Block V, Russell Survey
District. S.O. Plan 165531.

The Motor Launch (Mokau River) Notice 1978, Waitomo
District Council

Pursuant to the Motor Launch Regulations 1962*, I, Owen
John Conway, of the Ministry of Transport, in exercise of
powers delegated by the Minister of Transport, hereby give
the following notice.

  1. (a) This notice may be cited as the Motor Launch
    (Mokau River) Notice 1978.
    (b) This notice shall come into force on the date of its
    publication in the New Zealand Gazette and shall remain in
    force until further notice in the Gazette.

  2. Subject to the conditions set forth in the Second Schedule
    hereto, regulations 11 (c) and 11 (d) and 12 (c) and 12 (d)
    of the Motor Launch Regulations 1962 shall not apply to the
    area described in the First Schedule hereto.

First Schedule

All that area of water of the Mokau River known as the
Wairere Dam, extending 850 metres upstream from the
Wairere Bridge.

Second Schedule

  1. There shall be erected on both banks of the Mokau
    River, on the upstream side of the Wairere Bridge, a notice
    board measuring not less than 800 mm by 600 mm painted
    bright orange with black lettering in the following form:

NOTICE

Motor Launch Regulations 1962

Provided that only one vessel is using the area at any
one time, motor launches and water skiers may travel
at speeds greater than 8 km per hour between this
notice and marker posts positioned 850 metres distant
upstream.

BATHERS KEEP OUT

  1. There shall be erected at normal water levels on both
    banks of the Mokau River, at the upstream limit of the area
    described in the First Schedule: conspicuous marker posts
    painted with 300 mm bright orange and black bands.

  2. Any person in charge of a vessel or any person water
    skiing, when proceeding at a speed greater than 8 mph within
    the areas described in the First Schedule to this notice shall
    not approach, pass or carry out any manoeuvre that is likely
    to threaten the safety of or cause undue annoyance to any
    other person using the water for fishing, boating, swimming
    or any other recreational pursuit.

Notice of Approval of Bylaws

Pursuant to sections 8A and 165 of the Harbours Act 1950,
I, Owen John Conway, of the Ministry of Transport, hereby
approve the bylaws of the East Coast Bays City Council as
contained in the North Shore Local Authorities Joint Dog
Control Bylaw 1978, and as adopted and confirmed at
meetings of the said council on 2 August 1978 and 4 October
1978.
