  1. The closed fire season laid down in the principal order as being that period between the 1st day of September in any one year and the 30th day of April in the following year (both days inclusive), is amended and hereby declared to be that period between the 1st day of October in any one year and the 30th day of September in the following year (both days inclusive).

  2. The constitution of the Moutere Hills Rural Fire District Committee, as establishing in the principal order, is hereby amended by increasing its membership to eight, with the additional member to be appointed by H. Baigent and Sons Ltd., in the manner prescribed in the principal order.

  3. The principal order is hereby amended by deleting all reference to Tasman Forests Ltd., and replacing it with Fletcher Timber Co. Ltd.

  4. The principal order is hereby amended by including in the First Schedule thereto the additional areas as set out in the Schedule to this order.

SCHEDULE

Additional areas supplementary to those specified in the First Schedule to the principal order:

ALL that area in the Nelson Land District, Waima County, containing approximately 8305 hectares, and bounded by the following lines:

Firstly, commencing at the south-eastern corner of Section 33, Sq 7, Block XIV, Motueka S.D., and proceeding south-westerly and south-easterly generally along the existing Rural Fire District boundary to the eastern corner of Lot 2, D.P. 6436, Block I, Wai-iti S.D.; then south-westerly along the north-western side of a public road and the production of that line to the southern side of the Woodstock-Wakefield main road; then southerly along the western and northern sides of the last-mentioned road to the south-western corner of Section 110, Sq 6, Block V, Wai-iti S.D.; then south-westerly along a production of that boundary to the eastern bank of Stanley Brook; then north-westerly generally along that bank to the north-western corner of Section 23, Block I, Wai-iti S.D.; then easterly along the northern boundaries of Sections 23, and 22, and the production of Section 2, Block I, Wai-iti S.D.; then generally south-easterly along the south-western boundary of Section 2, to the southern corner of that section; then north-easterly along the south-eastern boundary of Section 2 and part Section I; then north-westerly along the south-western boundary of Sections 89 and 90, Sq 6, Block I, Wai-iti S.D.; then generally south-westerly and north-westerly along the south-eastern and south-western boundaries of Lot 2, D.P. 1895, and the production of the last-mentioned boundary to the eastern bank of the Motueka River; then north-easterly generally along that bank to the southern corner of Section 128, Sq 3, Block V, Motueka S.D.; then north-easterly along the north-western side of State Highway 61, to the existing R.F.D. boundary; then southerly generally along that boundary to the eastern corner of D.P. 2544, Block X, Motueka S.D.; then southerly to a point on the southern side of the Ngatimoti-Thorpe road; then southerly generally along the western side of that road to the point of commencement.

Secondly, commencing at the south-western corner of D.P. 3825, Block VII, Motueka S.D., and proceeding north along the eastern side of the Motueka-Moutere main road to the intersection of School Road; then easterly and south-easterly along the southern and south-eastern side of that road to the existing R.F.D. boundary. Then westerly and southerly generally along that boundary to the point of commencement.

Thirdly, all that land in the Kina Peninsula north of the existing Rural Fire District boundary.

Fourthly, commencing at the northern corner of Section 2, Sq 1, Block I, Waima S.D., and proceeding south-east to the existing R.F.D. boundary; then generally south, west and north, along that boundary to the north-western corner of Section 2, Sq 2, Block I, Waima S.D.; then easterly generally along the southern side of Redwoods Valley road to the point of commencement.

Fifthly, commencing at the southern corner of Section 4, Block VI, Wai-iti S.D., and proceeding northerly to the northern corner of part Section 98, Sq 2, Block VI, Wai-iti S.D.; then south-easterly generally along the south-western side of the Wakefield-Woodstock main road to the existing R.F.D. boundary; then generally southerly and north-westerly generally along the northern bank of the Wai-iti River to the northern corner of Section 108, Waima South District, Block XII, Wai-iti S.D.; then generally southerly and westerly along the western and northern side of the Wai-iti River to the existing R.F.D. boundary; then generally northerly and southerly and easterly along that boundary to the point of commencement.

Sixthly, commencing at the south-eastern corner of Section 45, Sq 2, Block XII, Wai-iti S.D., and proceeding westerly generally along the northern bank of the Wai-iti River to the northern corner of Section 108, Waima South District, Block XII, Wai-iti S.D.; then generally southerly and westerly along the western and northern side of the Wai-iti River to the existing R.F.D. boundary; then generally northerly and southerly and easterly along that boundary to the point of commencement.

Seventhly, commencing at the north-western corner of Section 33, Wai-iti Hills District, Block XV, Wai-iti S.D., and proceeding easterly and north-easterly along the southern and south-eastern side of a public road to the northern corner of part Section 2, of 32 Wai-iti Hills District, Block XVI, Wai-iti S.D.; then south-easterly and south-westerly along the north-eastern and south-eastern boundaries of that section to the north-western corner of Section 34, Wai-iti Hills District, Block XVI, Wai-iti S.D.; then easterly along the northern boundary to the north-east corner of that section; then generally southerly along the eastern side of Section 35, Wai-iti Hills District, Block XVI, Wai-iti S.D., to the Wai-iti River; then generally south-west along the north-west side of that river to the existing R.F.D. boundary; then generally north-west and north along that boundary to the point of commencement.

Eighthly, commencing from the eastern corner of part 2, of Section 1, Waima South District, Block XV, Wai-iti S.D., and proceeding generally south along the western bank of the Wai-iti River to the existing R.F.D. boundary at the north-western corner of part 37, Wai-iti Hills District, Block XV, Wai-iti S.D.; then generally south-westerly along that boundary to the north-western corner of part 47, Wai-iti Hills District, Block III, Gordon S.D., and along the production of the last-mentioned boundary to the middle of the Wai-iti Valley road; then northerly along the middle of that road to the intersection with State Highway No. 6; then generally north-westerly along the middle of that road to the Golden Downs Rural Fire District boundary; then north along that boundary to its intersection with the Moutere Hills R.F.D. boundary; then generally east and north-east along the southern and south-eastern boundary of that district to the point of commencement.

PURSUANT to the Forest and Rural Fires Act 1955, His Excellency the Governor General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following order.

ORDER

  1. This order may be cited as the Golden Downs Rural Fire District Order 1948, Amendment No. 3, and shall be read together with and deemed part of the order constituting the Golden Downs Rural Fire District made on the 1st day of December 1948* (hereinafter referred to as the principal order).

  2. The principal order is hereinafter cited as the Golden Downs Rural Fire District Order 1948.

  3. The closed fire season, laid down in the principal order as being that period between the 1st day of November in any one year and the 30th day of April in the following year (both days inclusive), is amended and hereby declared to be that period between the 1st day of October in any one year and the 30th day of September in the following year (both days inclusive).

  4. The principal order is hereby amended by including in the Schedule thereto the additional areas as set out in the Schedule to this order.
