Appointments, Promotions, Extensions, Transfers, Resignations, and Retirements of Officers of the Royal New Zealand Navy
PURSUANT to section 35 of the Defence Act 1971, His Excellency the Governor-General has approved the following appointments, promotions, extensions, transfers, resignations, and retirements of officers of the New Zealand Naval Forces.
ROYAL NEW ZEALAND NAVY
Commander (acting Captain) N. R. Win, relinquishes the acting rank of Captain with effect from 1 July 1977.
Commander L. A. W. Urquhart to be acting Captain with effect from 27 June 1977.
Lieutenant Commander T. S. Jones to be acting Commander with effect from 27 June 1977 and Commander with seniority and effect from 1 July 1977.
The appointment of Lieutenant Commander J. T. Herd is extended to 10 August 1984.
The appointment of Lieutenant Commander C. E. Middlemiss is extended to retiring age for rank.
Lieutenant Commander D. Rigby, C.ENG., M.I. MAR.E., to be temp. Commander, with effect from 11 July 1977.
Lieutenant Commander Eric Andrew Craig is placed on the Retired List, with effect from 17 June 1977.
Lieutenant Commander Robert John Nelligan, B.E.(MECH.), is transferred to the Reserve of Naval Officers until 30 June 1981, with effect from 1 July 1977.
The appointment of Lieutenant G. O. Bell is extended to 8 November 1986.
Lieutenant (temp. Lieutenant Commander) J. Murray to be Lieutenant Commander, with seniority and effect from 30 June 1977.
Lieutenant (temp. Lieutenant Commander) Peter Graham Muir is transferred to the Reserve of Naval Officers until 24 June 1981, with effect from 25 June 1977.
Lieutenant W. A. McEwan, M.A.(HONS.), to be temp. Lieutenant Commander, with effect from 4 July 1977.
The appointment of Surgeon Lieutenant P. H. Robinson, M.B., CH.B., is extended to 3 February 1982.
Sub Lieutenant Alan Digby Millar is transferred to the Reserve of Naval Officers until 1 June 1981, with effect from 2 June 1977.
The appointment of Ensign (temp. Sub Lieutenant) J. R. Meldrum, B.SC., with seniority from 12 January 1976 and effect from 25 February 1976 is confirmed.
Ensign (acting Sub Lieutenant) I. R. Logan to be temp. Sub Lieutenant, with effect from 25 June 1977.
Ensign (acting Sub Lieutenant) B. C. McLennan to be temp. Sub Lieutenant, with effect from 25 June 1977.
Ensign R. M. Mason to be temp. Sub Lieutenant, with effect from 6 May 1977.
Ensign R. J. Scott to be temp. Sub Lieutenant, with effect from 6 May 1977.
Midshipman Jens Douglas Petersen is transferred to the Reserve of Naval Officers until 22 April 1981, with effect from 23 April 1977.
ROYAL NEW ZEALAND NAVAL VOLUNTEER RESERVE
John Hugh Williams is appointed to the RNZNVR List I in the rank of Lieutenant, with seniority from 9 May 1971 and effect from 9 May 1977.
