STATEMENT OF ACCOUNTING POLICIES
The general accounting principles outlined in the New Zealand
Society of Accountants’ 1974 statement for the measurement and
reporting of profits and losses under the historical cost method
have been adopted in the preparation of these financial statements.
The following particular accounting policies which materially
affects the measurement of profit and of financial position has
been applied and is unchanged from last year.
a. Depreciation:
Depreciation has been calculated at rates laid down by the
Inland Revenue Department.
b. Scientific Equipment:
Accounting for purchases of scientific equipment is dealt with on
the basis of Government Accounting Policies.
AUDITORS CERTIFICATE
We certify that we have examined the books of account and
vouchers of the Cawthron Institute Trust Board for the year ended
31 December 1976. We have also inspected the securities held in
the name of the board as at 31 December 1976. In our opinion
the attached balance sheet is properly drawn up so as to set out
the true position of the trust as at 31 December 1976 as shown by
the books.
