(b) A tunnel, surge-shaft, and penstock leading from the said intake to the powerhouse.
(c) A powerhouse with a turbine and all necessary equipment for generating electricity, having a maximum capacity of 6,000 kw.
(d) A tailrace leading from the powerhouse to the Mangapapa River and Lake McLaren Reservoir.

3. Ruahihi Scheme:

The water for the Ruahihi Scheme shall be taken from the Mangakarengorengo River at points in Lot 1, D.P. 37373, being Pt. Kaimai No. 1, Block V, Otanewainuku S.D.; from the Opuiaki and Mangapapa Rivers, including the various waters described above diverted by the Lloyd Mandeno Scheme, at a point in Lot 1, D.P. S. 9907, being Pt. Allotment 475, Te Papa Parish, Block V, Otanewainuku S.D.; and from the Mairoa stream and two minor streams intercepted by the canal works at points in Allotments 703, 463, and 643, Te Papa Parish, Blocks I and V, Otanewainuku S.D.; and the water shall be used for the generation of electricity by the means of the following works:

(a) Headworks consisting of a diversion weir and intakes on the Mangakarengorengo River and diversion tunnels leading to the McLaren Lake reservoir; a dam across the Mangapapa River forming the said reservoir; and an intake on the said reservoir adjacent to the existing McLaren Falls intake.

(b) A canal, pipelines, and penstocks leading from the said headworks to the powerhouse hereinafter mentioned.

(c) A powerhouse with a turbine and all necessary equipment for generating electricity having a maximum capacity of 20,000 kw and discharging into the Wairoa River.

All as shown on plan marked N.Z.E.D. 915, deposited in the office of the New Zealand Electricity Department at Wellington.

The Tauranga City Council and Tauranga Electric Power Board Water Power and Electric Lines Licence 1963, Amendment No. 6

PURSUANT to the Electricity Act 1968, the Minister of Electricity hereby makes the following amendments to the Tauranga City Council and Tauranga Electric Power Board Water Power and Electric Lines Licence 1963* (hereinafter referred to as “the principal order”) as amended by the amendments specified in the Schedule hereto:

1. The First Schedule to the principal order is hereby amended by deleting subclauses (a), (g), and (h).

2. The First Schedule to the principal order is hereby amended by including the following subclauses:

(i) Lines for the transmission of electrical energy commencing from the Lloyd Mandeno power station and proceeding in a generally north-easterly direction across Blocks V, I, and II, Otanewainuku Survey District, and Block XIII, Tauranga Survey District, to Greerton as shown on plan marked N.Z.E.D. 916 deposited at the office of the New Zealand Electricity Department at Wellington.

(j) Lines for the transmission of electrical energy commencing from Ruahihi power station and proceeding to Ruahihi switchyard situated in Block I, Otanewainuku S.D., and from the said switchyard to the Lloyd Mandeno-Greerton lines, described in subclause (i) hereof as shown on plan marked N.Z.E.D. 916 deposited at the office of the New Zealand Electricity Department at Wellington.

Consent to the Generation of Electricity by the Waitomo Electric Power Board

PURSUANT to the Electricity Act 1968, the Minister of Electricity hereby consents to the generation of electricity by the Waitomo Electric Power Board, subject to the following conditions.

CONDITIONS

1. The conditions directed by the Water Power Regulations 1934, to be implied in every licence to use water for the purpose of generation or storing electricity, shall be deemed to be conditions of this consent as if it were such a licence.

2. This consent is subject to compliance with the Water Power Regulations 1934, the Electrical Supply Regulations 1976, the Electrical Wiring Regulations 1976, the Radio Interference Regulations 1958, and all regulations, hereafter made in amendment or in substitution for any of those regulations, as if in the case of the Water Power Regulations 1934 it were a licence under the Public Works Act 1928, to use water for the purpose of generating electricity, as well as a consent under the Electricity Act 1968, to generate electricity by the use of water.

3. The generation of electricity by the use of water, pursuant to this consent, shall be carried out by means of the works described in the Schedule hereto.

4. This consent shall, unless it is sooner lawfully determined continue in force for a period of 21 years from the 1st day of April 1976.

5. This consent confers no rights to water under the Water and Soil Conservation Act 1967 or otherwise.

6. This consent shall be deemed to have come into force on the 1st day of April 1976.

7. The stations should be operated to supply the normal electricity demand of the Waitomo Electric Power Board and to conform reasonably to the pattern of the supply authority’s daily load curve.

8. The Wairere Electric Power Board Water Power and Electric Lines Licence 1966, dated the 2nd day of November 1966, and published in the New Zealand Gazette on the 10th day of November 1966, at page 1780, is hereby revoked.

SCHEDULE

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORKS

1. Mokau River:

The water for the Mokau River generation scheme is drawn from the Mokau River at a point in Section 1, Block VI, Totoro Survey District, and the water shall be used for the generating of electricity by means of the following works:

(a) Headworks consisting of a dam, spillway, and intake on the Mokau River approximately 5 miles downstream from the township of Piopio.

(b) Conduit: concrete-steel conduits with surge chambers and penstocks leading from the dam to the powerhouse.

(c) Powerhouse with water turbines, generators, and all necessary equipment for generating electricity, having a maximum capacity of 1,400 kilowatts.

(d) Tailrace from the powerhouse aforesaid to the Mokau River.

2. Mokauiti River:

The water for the Mokauiti River generation scheme is drawn from the Mokauiti River at a point in Section 3, Block IX, Totoro Survey District, and the water shall be used for the generating of electricity by means of the following works:

(a) Headworks consisting of a dam, spillway, and intake on the Mokauiti River approximately 1 mile downstream from the village of Aria.

(b) A tunnel conduit with surge chamber and penstock leading from the dam to the powerhouse hereinafter referred to.

(c) Powerhouse with water turbines, generators, and all necessary equipment for generating electricity, having a maximum capacity of 2,000 kilowatts.

(d) Tailrace from the powerhouse aforesaid to the Mokauiti River.

All as shown on the plan marked N.Z.E.D. 588, and deposited in the office of the New Zealand Electricity Department at Wellington.
