Amending Notice Declaring Land Set Apart for a Government Work (Railway Purposes) at Naenae and not now Required for that Purpose to be Crown Land

PURSUANT to section 35 of the Public Works Act 1928, the Minister of Railways hereby declares the land described in the Schedule hereto to be Crown land, together with a pipeline easement in document K. 39976, subject to the Land Act 1948 as from the 7th day of June 1976. And the notice dated the 27th day of May 1976, and published in New Zealand Gazette, No. 63, 3 June 1976, page 1217, is hereby revoked.

Declaring Land Set Apart for a Government Work (Railway Housing Purposes) at Gore and not now Required for that Purpose to be Crown Land

Consolidating and Amending Consents to the Generation of Electricity by the Tauranga Joint Generation Committee by the Use of Water

PURSUANT to the Electricity Act 1968, the Minister of Electricity hereby consolidates and amends the consents to the generation of electricity by the Tauranga Joint Generation Committee by the use of water* subject to the following conditions.

CONDITIONS

  1. The conditions, directed by the Water Power Regulations 1934, to be implied in every licence to use water for the purpose of generating or storing electricity shall be deemed to be conditions of this consent as if it were such a licence.

  2. This consent is subject to compliance with the Water Power Regulations 1934, the Electrical Supply Regulations 1976, the Electrical Wiring Regulations 1976, the Radio Interference Regulations 1958, and all regulations hereafter made in amendment or in substitution for any of those regulations, as if in the case of the Water Power Regulations 1934 it were a licence under the Public Works Act 1928, to use water for the purpose of generating electricity as well as a consent under the Electricity Act 1968 to generate electricity by the use of water.

  3. The generation of electricity by the use of water, pursuant to this consent, shall be carried out by means of the works described in the Schedule hereto.

  4. This consent shall, unless it is sooner lawfully determined, continue in force until the 31st day of March 1985.

  5. This consent confers no rights to water under the Water and Soil Conservation Act 1967 or otherwise.

  6. For the purpose of assessing the rental or annual sum payable in respect of this consent, the maximum generating capacity of the plant shall be assessed as follows:

(a) Lloyd Mandeno: 15,000 kw.
(b) Lower Mangapapa: 6,000 kw.
(c) Ruahihi: 20,000 kw.

  1. The scheme for the generation of electricity authorised by this consent is an extension of the scheme for the generation of electricity authorised by the Tauranga City Council and the Tauranga Electric Power Board Water Power and Electric Lines Licence 1963 (New Zealand Gazette, 6 February 1964, p. 141) and subsequent amendments thereto, and this consent shall be read in conjunction with that licence.

  2. The stations shall be operated to supply the normal electricity demand of the two supply authorities forming the Tauranga Joint Generation Committee, and not used to reduce the peak demand on the New Zealand Electricity Department other than that due to the normal operation of the stations.


SCHEDULE
GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF WORK

  1. Lloyd Mandeno Scheme

The water for the Lloyd Mandeno Scheme shall be taken from the Opuiaiki River at a point in Pt. Whaiti Kuranui 5D2, Block III, Tapapa East S.D.; from the Tauwharawhara Stream at a point near the boundary of Pt. Whaiti Kuranui 5D2 and 5A, Block III, Tapapa East S.D.; and from the Ngatuhoa River at a point in Pt. Whaiti Kuranui 5A, Block III, Tapapa East S.D.; from the Awakotuko Stream at a point in Pt. Kaimai 2D, Block IX, Otanewainuku S.D.; and from the Mangaonui Stream at a point in Pt. Kaimai 2D, Block IX, Otanewainuku S.D.; from the Ruakaka Stream at a point in Pt. Te Papa-Paengaroa 2 A Block X, Otanewainuku S.D.; from the Omanawa River at a point in Pt. Te Papa-Paengaroa 2 G, Block X, Otanewainuku S.D.; and from the gulley in Pt. Kaimai No. IC, Block IX, Otanewainuku S.D.; and the water shall be used for the generating of electricity by means of the following works:

(a) Headworks consisting of the necessary diversion weirs and intakes on the Opuiaiki, Ngatuhoa, Mangapapa, and Omanawa rivers, and the Tauwharawhara, Awakotuko, Mangaonui and Ruakaka streams.

(b) Tunnels, pipes, and canals, leading from the intakes from the said rivers and streams to the reservoir hereinafter mentioned.

(c) A dam across the Mangaonui stream forming a reservoir.

(d) An intake on the said reservoir and a tunnel and canal leading to the forebay, hereinafter mentioned.

(e) Forebay and penstocks leading to the powerhouse hereinafter mentioned.

(f) A powerhouse with a turbine and all necessary equipment for generating electricity having a maximum capacity of 15,000 kw.

(g) A tailrace leading from the powerhouse aforesaid to the Mangapapa River.

  1. Lower Mangapapa Scheme:

The water for the Lower Mangapapa scheme shall be taken from the Mangapapa River at a point adjoining Allotment 498 of Block V, Otanewainuku Survey District, and returned to the river at a point adjoining Lot 1, D.P. S. 10437, of Allotment 486, Block V, Otanewainuku Survey District, and the water shall be used for the generating of electricity by means of the following works:

(a) Headworks consisting of a dam and spillway and an intake.
