The attention of sportsmen and others is drawn to the daily game possession limits set forth in the First Schedule hereto and to the provisions of the Wildlife Act 1953, and the Wildlife Regulations 1955.

FIRST SCHEDULE

DAILY GAME POSSESSION LIMIT

EXCEPT where all game is labelled with the following details:
(a) The name and address of the person by whom the game was taken;
(b) The number of the licence to hunt or kill game held by the person by whom the game was taken;
(c) The name of the acclimatisation society by which that licence was issued; and
(d) The date on which the game was taken.

No person shall have in his possession on any one day game in excess of the following numbers:

Saturday, 7 May 1977: Twice the number of game specified for Saturday, 7 May 1977.

Every subsequent day: As for Saturday, 7 May 1977.

ASHBURTON ACCLIMATISATION DISTRICT

Game That May be Hunted or Killed

Grey, shoveler (or spoonbill), and mallard duck

Paradise duck (only in that portion of the Ashburton Acclimatisation District west of Highway No. 72 from the Rakaia Gorge Bridge to the Rangitata River)

Pukeko (except in the Ashburton Acclimatisation District west of the Blowing Point Bridge on the Ashburton River)

California quail

Cock pheasant

Chukor

Canada goose

Duration of 1977-78 Season

7 May to 12 June 1977 incl.

14 May to 31 July 1977 incl.

14 May to 22 May 1977 incl.

14 May to 28 August 1977 incl.

7 May to 30 October 1977 incl.

Midnight 3 February 1978 to 2 April 1978 at midnight incl.

Daily Bag Limits

Grey duck, 25.

Shoveler (or spoonbill), 25.

Mallard duck, 25.

Paradise duck, 5.

Grey, shoveler (or spoonbill), paradise, and mallard duck, 25 in all.

Shooting hours: 6.30 a.m. to 7 p.m. except that during the period 13 June 1977 to 30 October 1977 inclusive, and midnight 3 February 1978 to 2 April 1978 at midnight inclusive, Canada goose may be shot 24 hours per day.

Decoy limit: No limit.

Special Conditions

A licence issued subject to this notification to hunt or kill game shall entitle the holder thereof to hunt or kill game on that portion of the bank and bed of the Rakaia River which lies within the North Canterbury Acclimatisation District, during the period and subject, mutatis mutandis, to the conditions prescribed in this notification fixing an open season for that district.
A licence issued pursuant to this notification to hunt or kill game shall entitle the holder thereof to hunt or kill game in the South Canterbury and Waitaki Valley Acclimatisation Districts, during the period and subject, mutatis mutandis, to the conditions prescribed in this notification fixing an open season for game in those districts.

Special Conditions

A licence issued pursuant to this notification shall entitle the holder thereof to hunt or kill game on that portion of the bank and bed of the Conway River which lies within the North Canterbury Acclimatisation District during the period and subject, mutatis mutandis, to the conditions prescribed in this notification fixing an open season in that district.
No person shall, for the purpose of hunting or killing game, use any fixed stand, pontoon, hide, maimai, or loo on the waters of the Vernon or Wairau Lagoons which lie generally between the mouth of the Wairau River, south to the Vernon Run, and west to the eastern boundary of Swansdown.
It shall be an offence for any person to wilfully leave in the field the bodies or parts of bodies of black swan or other game shot, in the Marlborough Acclimatisation District.
