Reservation of Land and Vesting in the Papakura City Council

The Riverhead Ecological Area Notice 1977

PURSUANT to section 15 of the Forests Act 1949 (as amended by section 2 of the Forests Amendment Act 1973 and section 2 of the Forests Amendment Act 1976) and all other powers enabling him in that behalf, the Minister of Forests hereby gives notice that the land described in the Schedule hereto is hereby set apart and dedicated for the purposes of protection, maintenance, and management of native trees and plants, and for the protection of native wildlife and for scientific purposes consistent with the proper use and management of State forest land. The State forest land so dedicated shall be known as the Riverhead Ecological Area.

SCHEDULE

NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT—AUCKLAND CONSERVANCY—RODNEY COUNTY

PART Allotment 46, Ararimu Parish, and parts Stopped Road, situated in Block I, Waitemata Survey District: area, 12.4 hectares, approximately (State Forest in New Zealand Gazette, 1928, p. 2751, and 1933, p. 394), as more particularly shown marked “A” on S.O. Plan 50457.

As shown on plan N. 37/14, deposited in the Head Office of the New Zealand Forest Service at Wellington.

Notes:

1. Camping or lighting of fires within the dedicated area is prohibited.

2. No felling or removal of timber, forest produce, native plants, or disturbance of the soil is permitted except for scientific or forest or wildlife management purposes as approved by the Minister of Forests.

3. The dedicated land lies within Riverhead S.F. 131 and contains a wide variety of forest types, including low coastal kanuka, rewarewa, puriri forest and tall kauri, kahikatea, and totara forest. (Forest Service No. 1/131/EO5.)
