Upper Survey District, crossing Matahina Road and the
Murupara Branch Railway, and the southern boundary of
Tarawera 1 Block to and generally south-westerly along
the south-eastern boundaries of that block, Putauaki 1
Block, again the south-eastern boundaries of Tarawera
1 Block and the southern boundaries of that block to its
intersection with the afore-mentioned western boundary of
the Whakatane County; thence northerly along that boundary
to the point of commencement. Excluding therefrom the
Borough of Kawerau, described as all that area in the South
Auckland Land District containing 2174 hectares, more or
less, bounded by a line commencing at Trig. 7751 in Block
XVI, Rotoma Survey District and proceeding generally
northerly along right lines bearing 273° 00', distant 1560
metres 337° 00', 600 metres and 35° 00' to the south-eastern
boundary of part Allotment 39A3E, Matata Parish; thence
north-easterly along that boundary, crossing Rotorua Kawerau
Road, and the south-eastern boundary of part Allotment
39A2B, Matata Parish, and its production to the right bank
of the Tarawera River as shown on D.P. S. 2476; thence north-
easterly generally along that bank to a point in line with the
southern boundary of Section 12A, IC Block IX, Rangitaiki
Upper Survey District; thence to and along that boundary,
the southern boundary of Section 36, Block IX, Rangitaiki
Upper Survey District and the last-mentioned boundary pro-
duced to a point in line with the western boundary of part
Allotment 59B 2D 3, Matata Parish; thence to and along
that boundary to a right line 100.58 metres south-east of and
parallel to the south-eastern side of Fentons Mill Road; thence
south-westerly along that right line and the south-eastern
boundary of part Allotment 59B 2D 4, Matata Parish as
shown on S.O. Plan 36416, to its southernmost point in
Block XIII, Rangitaiki Upper Survey District; thence along
a right line to a peg bearing 90° 02', distant 2.51 metres from
I.P. X, M.L. 16450; thence generally south-westerly along the
generally south-eastern boundary of a proposed street on
M.L. 16450 and its production to the left bank of the Tara-
wera River; thence generally south-westerly along that bank
to the generally northern boundary of Tarawera 1 Block in
Block XVI, Rotoma Survey District; thence generally westerly
along that northern boundary to a peg bearing 189° 54' 30",
distant 2.53 metres from I.S. XXXIII, M.L. 19837; thence
north-westerly along right lines to Trig C as shown on S.O.
14267 and Trig 7751, the point of commencement.
TANEATUA WARD
ALL that area in the South Auckland Land District, Whaka-
tane County, containing 331 square kilometres, more or less,
bounded by a line commencing at the south-western corner
of Omataroa Rangitaiki 1 Block, situated in Block III, Rangi-
taiki Lower Survey District, and proceeding generally northerly
along the eastern side of Galatea Road to a point in Block
XV, Rangitaiki Upper Survey District, in line with the
southern boundary of part Allotment 59B3D2, Matata Parish,
being a point on the boundary of the Tarawera Ward as
hereinbefore described; thence generally northerly along the
generally eastern boundary of that ward to and generally
north-easterly along the boundary of Omataroa Ward as here-
inbefore described to and generally south-easterly along the
boundary of Whakatane Ward as hereinbefore described, to
the northernmost corner of part Lot 3, D.P. 12843, situated
in Block VI, Whakatane Survey District; thence generally
south-westerly along the generally north-western boundaries
of the said part Lot 3, and the southern boundary of part
Lot 1, D.P. 12843 to the middle of the end of a public road;
thence generally south-westerly and generally southerly along
the middle of that road to and south-westerly along the
middle of Stanley Road to a point in line with the southern
boundary of Lot 3, D.P. S. 9839, situated in Block IX,
Whakatane Survey District; thence westerly to and along that
boundary and the southern boundary of Lot 1, D.P. S. 4875
to the south-western corner of that lot; thence southerly along
the eastern boundary of part Allotment 342, Waimana Parish,
and its production to the middle of the Waimana River;
thence generally southerly up the middle of that river to a
point in line with the northern boundary of Allotment 340,
Waimana Parish, situated in Block XIV, Whakatane Survey
District; thence westerly to the north-eastern corner of the
said Allotment 340; thence southerly and westerly along the
eastern and southern boundaries of that allotment to the
north-western corner of Lot 2, D.P. S. 11223, situated in
Block II, Waimana Survey District; thence southerly and
easterly along the western and southern boundaries of that
lot and the southern boundary of Lot 1, D.P. S. 11223 to the
north-western corner of Section 76S, Waimana Settlement;
thence southerly along the western boundaries of that Section,
parts Sections 3 and 4, Waimana Settlement, Lot 1, D.P.
29877, a right line across Luttrells Road, the western
boundaries of Lot 3, D.P. 29877, Waimana IC3
Block, part Section 1, Block VI, Waimana Survey District
and Section 1, Block XI, Waimana Survey District, to the
northernmost corner of Section 1, Block X, Waimana Survey
District; thence generally westerly along the generally northern
boundary of that section to the eastern side of Ruatoki
Valley Road; thence generally westerly along the northern
boundary of Section 1, Block X, aforesaid to the right bank
of the Whakatane River; thence southerly along that bank to
the middle of the mouth of the Maungawhio Stream; thence
generally easterly up the middle of that stream to a point in
line with the eastern boundary of Rangatipih Block; thence
southerly and south-westerly along that boundary, its pro-
duction to the middle of the Tamahinemataroa Stream and
the middle of that stream to its mouth; thence south-westerly
along a right line to the intersection of the south-western
boundary of Hakarae Block with the left bank of the Whaka-
tane River; thence generally north-westerly along the general
north-eastern boundaries of part Urewera Block to the eastern-
most corner of Mokorua Block, situated in Block VIII, Rangi-
taiki Lower Survey District; thence north-westerly along the
north-eastern boundaries of that block and Onapu Block
crossing a public road to and north-easterly along the south-
western boundaries of Tuararangaia Block and part Section 3,
Block IV, across a public road and along the south-western
boundary of Section 2, Block IV, Rangitaiki Lower Survey
District, to the north-eastern corner of the said Section 2;
thence westerly along the northern boundaries of that section,
part Section 1, Block IV, and Section 4, Block IV, Rangitaiki
Lower Survey District, to its north-western corner; thence
south-westerly along the north-western boundary of that section
to the north-eastern corner of Section 2, Block III, Rangitaiki
Lower Survey District; thence westerly along the northern
boundaries of that section and part Section 1 of the said
Block III to the point of commencement.
GALATEA WARD
ALL that area in the South Auckland and Gisborne Land
Districts, Whakatane County, containing 1830 square kilo-
metres, more or less, bounded by a line commencing in Block
XV, Ruawahia Survey District, at the intersection of the
south-western boundary of Tarawera 1 Block with the western
boundary of the Whakatane County as described in New
Zealand Gazette 1970, p. 198, being a point on the south-
western boundary of the Tarawera Ward as hereinbefore
described, and proceeding generally north-easterly and easterly
along that boundary to and generally easterly and generally
southerly along the boundary of the Taneatua Ward as here-
inbefore described to and generally southerly and generally
easterly along the western and southern boundaries of the
Waimana Ward as hereinbefore described to its intersection
with the south-eastern boundary of the aforementioned
Whakatane County; thence generally south-westerly and gener-
ally northerly along that County Boundary to the point of
commencement. Excluding therefrom the Borough of Muru-
para as described in New Zealand Gazette 1970, page 197.
WAIMANA WARD
ALL that area in the South Auckland and Gisborne Land
Districts, Whakatane County, containing 1151 square kilo-
metres, more or less, bounded by a line commencing at the
northernmost corner of part Lot 3, D.P. 12843, situated in
Block VI, Whakatane Survey District being a point on the
boundary of the Whakatane County as described in New
Zealand Gazette 1970, page 198, and proceeding generally
southerly along that boundary to a point in Block V, Koranga
West Survey District, due east of the intersection in Block
VIII, Ruatahuna Survey District of the middle of the Manga-
toatoa Stream with a right line produced north-easterly from
Trig. Station 2128 (Whakatakaa) through Trig. Station 2126
(Maungapohatu); thence due West to the said intersection;
thence northwesterly along right lines to Trig. Station Pawai-
roto in Block III, Ruatahuna and Trig. Station 2163 (Te
Rangaaruanuku) in Block XIV, Urewera Survey District;
thence south-westerly along a right line to the north-eastern
corner of Section 1, Block II, Ahikereru Survey District;
thence northerly along right lines to Trig. Station 2121 (Hiku-
rangi) in Block VII, Galatea Survey District, and the south-
eastern corner of Oputea Block in Block III, Galatea Survey
District; thence generally northerly along the generally eastern
boundaries of Oputea Block, the south-eastern boundaries of
Waiohau Part 1A1D2, B9A and 1A2B Blocks, the southern
and eastern boundaries of Tawhia Block, and the generally
eastern boundaries of Pukehou, Tapapakiekie, Tukutoroniro,
and Mokorua Blocks to the easternmost corner of the said
Mokorua Block, being a point on the boundary of the Tane-
atua Ward hereinbefore described; thence generally south-
easterly, generally southerly, generally easterly, and generally
northerly along the boundary of that Ward to the point of
commencement.
