The Otahu Dedicated Area Notice 1976

PURSUANT to section 15 of the Forests Act 1949 (as amended
by section 2 of the Forests Amendment Act 1973) the Minister
of Forests hereby gives the following notice.

NOTICE

1. Title—This notice may be cited as the Otahu Dedicated
   Area Notice 1976.

2. General purposes of land dedicated—The land described
   in the Schedule hereto is hereby set apart and dedicated
   for the purposes of protection, maintenance, and management
   of trees and other plants, and for the protection of native
   wildlife and for scientific purposes consistent with the proper
   use and management of State forest land.

SCHEDULE

SOUTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT—AUCKLAND CONSERVANCY—
THAMES AND OHinemuri COUNTIES

PART Section 3, Block VII and Part Whangamata No. 3 Block,
situated in Blocks III and VII, Ohinemuri Survey District:
area, 396.0000 hectares, more or less (S.O. Plan 47424).

As shown on plan N53/11 deposited in the Head Office of
the New Zealand Forest Service at Wellington.

The Hodges Basin Dedicated Area Notice 1976

PURSUANT to section '15 of the Forests Act 1949 (as amended
by section 2 of the Forests Amendment 'Act 1973), and all
other powers enabling him in that behalf the Minister
of Forests hereby gives notice that the land described in
the Schedule hereto is hereby set apart and dedicated for
the purposes of protection, maintenance and management of
trees and other plants, and for the protection of native wildlife
and for scientific purposes consistent with the proper use
and management of State forest land. The State forest land
so dedicated shall be known as the Hodges Basin Biological
Area.

SCHEDULE

NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT—AUCKLAND CONSERVANCY—
RODNEY COUNTY

PART Section 1, situated in Block V, Kumeu Survey District:
area, 25 hectares, approximately (State Forest by Gazette
1959, p. 688), as more particularly shown marked A on
S.O. Plan 50384.

As shown on plan N37/12 deposited in the Head Office of
the New Zealand Forest Service at Wellington.

NOTES:

1. Camping or lighting of fires within the dedicated area
   is prohibited.

2. No felling or removal of timber, forest produce, native
   plants or disturbance of the soil is permitted except for
   scientific or forest or wildlife management purposes as
   approved by the Minister of Forests.

3. The land dedicated lies within Woodhill State Forest 179
   and contains in the main remnants of the former western
   coastal forest of the Auckland district: mainly puriri, rewarewa,
   kanuka and karaka (Forest Service No. 1/179/B02).

The Lookout Dedicated Area Notice 1976

PURSUANT to section 15 of the Forests Act 1949 (as amended
by section 2 of the Forests Amendment 'Act 1973), and all
other powers enabling him in that behalf, the Minister
of Forests hereby gives notice that the land described in
the Schedule hereto is hereby set apart and dedicated for

the purposes of protection, maintenance, and management
of trees and other plants, and for the protection of native
wildlife, and for scientific purposes consistent with the
proper use and management of State forest land. The State
forest land so dedicated shall be known as the Lookout
Biological Area.

SCHEDULE

NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT—AUCKLAND CONSERVANCY—
RODNEY COUNTY

PART Section 1, situated in Block V, Kumeu Survey District:
area, 57 hectares, approximately (State Forest by Gazette
1959, p. 688), as more particularly shown marked A on
S.O. Plan 50383.

As shown on plan N37/13 deposited in the Head Office
of the New Zealand Forest Service at Wellington.

NOTES:

1. Camping or lighting of fires within the dedicated area is
   prohibited

2. No felling or removal of timber, forest produce, native
   plants, or disturbance of the soil is permitted, except for
   scientific or forest or wildlife management purposes as approved
   by the Minister of Forests.

3. The land dedicated lies within Woodhill State Forest 179
   and contains in the main second-growth hardwood forest
   typical of the Auckland District: mainly kanuka, Neopanax
   species and other shrub hardwoods (Forest Service No. 1/
   179/B03).

The Lake Okaihau Dedicated Area Notice 1976

PURSUANT to section 15 of the Forests Act 1949 (as amended
by section 2 of the Forests Amendment Act 1973), and all
other powers enabling him in that behalf, the Minister of
Forests hereby gives notice that the land described in the
Schedule hereto is hereby set apart and dedicated for the
purposes of protection, maintenance and management of trees
and other plants, and for the protection of native wildlife,
and for scientific purposes consistent with the proper use and
management of State forest land. The State forest land so
dedicated shall be known as the Lake Okaihau Biological Area.

RODNEY COUNTY

PART Section 3, situated in Block VIII, Kumeu Survey District:
area, 12 hectares, approximately (State forest by Gazette
1959, p. 688) as more particularly shown marked A on
S.O. Plan 50365.

As shown on plan N41/3 deposited in the Head Office of
the New Zealand Forest Service at Wellington.

NOTES:

1. Camping or lighting of fires within the dedicated area is
   prohibited.

2. No felling or removal of timber, forest produce, native
   plants, or disturbance of the soil is permitted except for
   scientific or forest or wildlife management purposes as
   approved by the Minister of Forests.

3. The land dedicated lies beside Lake Okaihau in Wood-
   hill State Forest 179 and contains in the main a remnant
   of the former western coastal forest of the Auckland district:
   mainly pohutakawa, puriri, karaka and titoki (Forest Service
   No. 1/179/B01).
