Paradise duck (only in that portion of the Waitaki Valley Acclimatisation District that lies west of the Lake Waitaki Dam and the area upstream of the main road bridge on the Hakataramea River) .... 10 May to 30 May 1976 incl.

Canada goose (Area A—that area of land and water comprising the Waitaki River, from the top of the Lake Waitaki Dam structure to the sea, the bed of that portion of the Waitaki River, and all islands in that portion) .... 1 May to 30 May 1976 incl. and 12 June to 20 June 1976 incl.

Canada goose (Area B—that portion of the Waitaki Valley Acclimatisation District that lies to the eastward of the main trunk railway line and south of a line extending from Hook Swamp Road to the sea and north of the line of Fox's Road extending from the main trunk railway line to 200 metres off the (Dead Arm) Waihoa River, and thereafter a line 200 metres from the west bank of that river extending to the Waihoa Box at the sea) .... 1 May to 30 May 1976 incl. and 12 June to 20 June 1976 incl.

Canada goose (Area C—that part of the Waitaki Valley Acclimatisation District excluding Areas A and B) .... 1 May to 3 October 1976 incl. and midnight 4 February 1977 to 20 March 1977 at midnight incl.

Shooting hours: 6.45 a.m. to 7.00 p.m. except that during the period 21 June 1976 to 3 October 1976 inclusive, and midnight 4 February 1977 to 20 March 1977 at midnight inclusive, Canada goose may be shot 24 hours per day.
Decoy limit: No limit.

Special Conditions

  1. No person shall, for the purposes of hunting or killing game, build, or attempt to build, any stand, hide, shelter, maimai, mud-hole, loc, louvre, or position before 9 a.m. on 3 April 1976.
  2. A licence issued pursuant to this notification to hunt or kill game shall entitle the holder thereof to hunt or kill game in the Ashburton and South Canterbury Acclimatisation Districts, during the period and subject, mutatis mutandis, to the conditions prescribed in this notification fixing an open season for game in those districts.

Special Conditions

  1. Persons holding valid game shooting licences for the Westland Acclimatisation District may, without taking out a further game licence, shoot in that portion of the Southern Lakes Acclimatisation District included in the Westland Land District. The conditions prescribed in this notification in respect of the Southern Lakes Acclimatisation District shall apply in this area.
  2. No person shall, on the waters of Lake Mahinapua, for the purpose of hunting or killing game, use any fixed stand, pontoon, hide, maimai, or loo, except within 45 metres from the margin of the lake waters.
