Commission of Inquiry into the Heavy Engineering Industry

ORDER IN COUNCIL
To all to whom these presents shall come, and to:
RONALD KEITH DAVISON, of Auckland, one of Her Majesty's Counsel Learned in the Law, and JAMES WILLIAM DEMPSEY of Wellington, Retired Deputy General Manager of the New Zealand Government Railways Department:
GREETING:
WHEREAS it is considered expedient that inquiry should be made into factors which have affected or are affecting the efficiency of the heavy engineering industry:
Now, therefore, pursuant to the Commissions of Inquiry Act 1908, I, Sir Edward Denis Blundell, the Governor-General of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby appoint you, the said RONALD KEITH DAVISON and JAMES WILLIAM DEMPSEY, to be a Commission to inquire into and report upon
(a) The factors that have contributed to the closure of individual undertakings in the heavy engineering industry over the last decade:
(b) How any such factors or other matters prejudicial to the continued viability and efficiency of existing undertakings within the industry can or should be removed or avoided:
(c) Any associated matters that the Commission may deem to be relevant to the general purposes of the inquiry:
And with the like advice and consent I hereby appoint you the said RONALD KEITH DAVISON to be the Chairman of the said Commission:
And for the better enabling you to carry these presents into effect you are hereby authorised and empowered to make and conduct any inquiry under these presents in accordance with the Commissions of Inquiry Act 1908, at such times and places as you think expedient, with power to adjourn from time to time and place to place as you think fit, and so that these presents shall continue in force and the inquiry may at any time and place be resumed although not regularly adjourned from time to time or from place to place:
And you are hereby strictly charged and directed that you shall not at any time publish or otherwise disclose, save to me in pursuance of these presents or by my direction, the content or purport of any report so made or to be made by you or any evidence or information obtained by you in exercise of the powers hereby conferred upon you except such evidence or information as is received in the course of a sitting open to the public:
And it is hereby declared that you have liberty to report your proceedings under this Commission from time to time if you shall judge it expedient so to do:
And using all due diligence you are required to report to me in writing under your hands not later than the 1st day of April 1977 your findings and opinions on the matters aforesaid, together with such recommendations as you think fit to make in respect thereof.

At the Government House at Wellington this 8th day of November 1976
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL
PURSUANT to the Forest and Rural Fires Act 1955, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby makes the following order.

ORDER

  1. (1) This order may be cited as the Waitakere Rural Fire District Order 1976.
    (2) This order shall come into force on the day after its notification in the Gazette.
  2. In this order, unless the context otherwise requires the "Act" means the Forest and Rural Fires Act 1955, "District" means the Waitakere Rural Fire District.
    PART I--CONSTITUTION OF THE WAITAKERE RURAL FIRE DISTRICT
  3. The area, specified in the Schedule to this order, is hereby constituted and declared to be a rural fire district to be known as the Waitakere Rural Fire District.
  4. The trees and other plants on lands, described in the Schedule to this order, are hereby specified as the property for the protection of which the district is constituted.
  5. The period between the 1st day of September in any one year and the 30th day of April in the following year (both days inclusive) is hereby declared to be a fire season in the district.
  6. The Waitakere Rural Fire District shall be administered, for the purposes of the said Act, by Waitemata City Council.
    SCHEDULE
    NORTH AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT-AUCKLAND CONSERVANCY-WAITEMATA CITY
    Waitakere Rural Fire District
    ALL that area of Waitemata City, bounded to the east by the Herald Island/Whenuapai Urban Fire District, Don Buck and Swanson Roads, the Henderson Borough, the Te Atatu Ward of the Waitemata City, the Glen Eden Borough, and the Titirangi Urban Fire District.
    As shown on plan N. 41/4, deposited in the Head Office of the New Zealand Forest Service at Wellington.

PURSUANT to section 59 of the Defence Act 1971, the Minister of Defence hereby approves the following appointments, promotions, extensions, relinquishments, cancellations, transfers, resignations and retirements of officers of the New Zealand Cadet Forces.
SEA CADET CORPS
Appointment
Terence Rodney Jones is appointed to a cadet commission in the rank of Ensign on probation for a period of three years, with seniority and effect from 16 December 1976.
SCHOOL CADET CORPS
Appointment
Peter John Boyce is appointed to a cadet commission in the rank of 2nd Lieutenant on probation for a period of three years, with seniority and effect from 19 August 1976.
Promotions
Lieutenant (Temporary Captain) John Alan Nilsson Ivory to be Captain, with effect from 6 September 1976, with seniority from 25 May 1976.
The following Cadet Officers are to be Lieutenant with effect from 6 September 1976, with seniority date as shown:

Dennis Jordan Maria is appointed to a cadet commission in the rank of Flight Lieutenant for a period of two years, with effect from 4 October 1976, and seniority, 4 August 1974.
