Officers of Government of Ross Dependency Appointed
DENIS BLUNDELL, Governor-General

WHEREAS, by the Order in Council dated the 30th day of
July 1923, made under the British Settlements Act 1887 of the
United Kingdom Parliament, the Governor-General and
Commander-in-Chief of New Zealand for the time being
(therein and hereinafter called the Governor) was appointed
to be the Governor of the Ross Dependency, and all the
powers and authorities which by the said order were given
and granted to the Governor for the time being of the
Dependency were thereby vested in him:
And whereas the Governor was thereby further authorised
and empowered to make all such rules and regulations as
might lawfully be made by Her Majesty's authority for the
peace, order, and good government of the Dependency:
And whereas, by regulations made by the Governor on the
14th day of November 1923†, it was enacted that all persons
appointed by the Governor for the time being of the
Dependency should have such power and authority as might
be granted them in due course of law, and might be em-
powered to do such things as might be necessary or desirable
to ensure that the laws in force in the Dependency are duly
observed and complied with in every respect, and to do all
things necessary or expedient for the peace, order, and good
government of the Dependency, and to safeguard and preserve
Her Majesty's rights and sovereignty over and in respect of
the Dependency:
And whereas it is expedient that the persons hereinafter
named be appointed officers of the Government of the
Dependency:
Now, therefore, I, Sir Edward Denis Blundell, the Governor-
General of New Zealand, and as such the Governor of the
Ross Dependency, hereby appoint
Hamish Durward Raynham, Esquire
as an officer of the Government of the Dependency; and I
hereby confer on him all the powers and authorities which
may be exercised in New Zealand by a Justice of the Peace,
and also the powers and authorities which may be so exercised
by a Coroner.
And I also appoint
Barry John Scannell, Esquire
as an officer of the Government of the Dependency; and I
hereby confer on him all the powers and authorities which
may be exercised in New Zealand by a Postmaster.
The said Hamish Durward Raynham and Barry John
Scannell to exercise their functions at such places within the
Dependency as may be directed by the officer for the time
being appointed as an officer of the Government of the
Dependency in whom is vested the general executive and
administrative authority in preserving Her Majesty's rights
and sovereignty and the laws and regulations in force in the
Dependency; and to hold office and exercise the duties thereof
during pleasure.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-
General, as the Governor of the Ross Dependency,
by his Deputy this 15th day of September 1975.

lency the Administrator of the Government has approved
the following appointments, promotions, extensions, transfers,
resignations, and retirements of officers of the New Zealand
Army.
REGULAR FORCE
ROYAL REGIMENT OF N.Z. ARTILLERY
Captain (temp. Major) and Quartermaster A. F. Taylor
to be Major and Quartermaster with seniority and effect
from 4 August 1975.
Lieutenant (temp. Captain) J. L. Burns to be Captain
with seniority and effect from 31 May 1975.
ROYAL N.Z. ARMOURED CORPS
Captain (temp. Major) and Quartermaster D. D. Sharp,
B.E.M., to be Major and Quartermaster with seniority and
effect from 1 July 1975.
Captain (temp. Major) and Quartermaster C. M. Wild
to be Major and Quartermaster with seniority and effect
from 1 July 1975.
Lieutenant (temp. Captain) and Quartermaster C. P. Dyson
to be Captain and Quartermaster with seniority and effect
from 1 July 1975.
Lieutenant and Quartermaster B. Tozer to be temp. Captain
and Quartermaster with effect from 1 July 1975.

George Kenmir Bunce, B.E., is reappointed to a commis-
sion and posted to the Retired List in the rank of Major
with effect from 4 June 1975.

Captain M. E. Rumble, M.SC., to be temp. Major with effect
from 25 August 1975.
Captain D. P. Bent to be temp. Major with effect from
11 August 1975.
ROYAL N.Z. INFANTRY REGIMENT
Captain (temp. Major) G. W. Kereama to be Major with
seniority from 20 June 1975 and effect from 25 June 1975.
Captain (temp. Major) and Quartermaster C. J. Phillips
to be Major and Quartermaster with seniority and effect
from 1 July 1975.
Captain Kevin Wayne Thomason is posted to the Retired
List with effect from 6 August 1975.
Lieutenant (temp. Captain) S. F. Hall to be Captain with
seniority from 8 January 1973 and effect from 30 May
1975.
Lieutenant (temp. Captain) B. E. Hall, M.C., to be Captain
with seniority from 20 June 1973 and effect from 30 May
1975.
Lieutenant (temp. Captain) G. R. Jackett to be Captain
with seniority from 26 November 1974 and effect from 10
June 1975.
Lieutenant (temp. Captain) P. F. Koorey to be Captain
with seniority from 6 January 1975 and effect from 30 May
1975.
Lieutenant T. A. McConnell to be temp. Captain with
effect from 13 May 1975.
Lieutenant L. Comer to be temp. Captain with effect from
14 May 1975.
2nd Lieutenant Keith Duncan Smith is transferred from
the Territorial Force for a period of 1 year in his present
rank and seniority, with effect from 21 June 1975.
Officer Cadet Ian Pit-Kethley Stuart is appointed to a
commission for an initial period of 5 years, in the rank
of 2nd Lieutenant, with seniority and effect from 22 June
1975.
Officer Cadet Dennis William Quirke is appointed to a
commission for an initial period of 5 years, in the rank
of 2nd Lieutenant, with seniority and effect from 22 June
1975.
Officer Cadet Robert Phillip Barlin is appointed to a com-
mission for an initial period of 8 years, in the rank of
2nd Lieutenant, with seniority and effect from 22 June 1975.
Keith Duncan Smith is appointed to a commission in
the rank of 2nd Lieutenant with seniority from 1 August
1973 and effect from 21 June 1975.
ROYAL N.Z. ARMY SERVICE CORPS
Captain (temp. Major) W. R. K. Wilson to be Major
with seniority and effect from 20 December 1974.
