For stations not listed the minimum fare for sleeping-berth accommodation will be $5.70.
Return Journeys will be charged twice the single journey fare.

(a) Availability and Break of Journey-Tickets at the special fares set out in paragraph 1 (a) will have the same availability (both as to period of time and break of journey) as ordinary tickets (Section 2).
(b) Tickets at the special fares set out in paragraph 1 (b) (i) and (ii) will have the same availability as ordinary tickets (Section 2) but they will not be transferable nor will they be available for break of journey. -
Class 1 War Pensioners-On presentation of the appropriate free pass, Class 1 War Pensioners (and accompanying attendants) will be entitled to travel free.

Class 2 War Pensioners must produce a Disabled Ex-Serviceman's permit on request. The fares must be paid for by applicants and are not to be debited to the War Pensions Division of the Department of Social Welfare.

The following charges will apply when sleeping berths are occupied as shown-
Parent or guardian occupying one berth with a child under 4 years of age One adult fare as shown in paragraph 1 (b) (i)
A child under 4 years of age occupying one berth (sole occupant) One child fare as shown in paragraph 1 (b) (ii)
Two children, one under 4 years of age, and one 15 years of age or over (in one berth) One adult fare as shown in paragraph 1 (b) (i)
Two children, each over 4 years and under 15 years of age (in one berth) Two children, one under 4 years, and one under 15 years of age (in one berth) One child fare as shown in paragraph 1 (b) (ii)
Two children, each under 4 years of age (in one berth) Two adult fares as shown in paragraph 1 (b) (i)
Except as provided above, not more than one person will be permitted to occupy any one berth. In no case will more than two children be permitted to occupy the same berth.

Conditions-Sleeping carriages will, as far as possible, be reserved for the use of passengers holding sleeping-berth tickets. The Department reserves the right to require passengers holding sleeping-berth tickets to ride in the sleeping-carriages throughout the journey. The Department also reserves the right to accommodate any passengers not holding sleeping-berth tickets in the sleeping carriages until it is necessary to make up berths for the night, when passengers who have not been allotted sleeping accommodation must move to another part of the train.

Ordering and Allotment of Berths-(a) Sleeping berths may be reserved at any station where there is an officer in charge, or at authorised booking agencies. The Department reserves the right to cancel trains and alter train timetables without notice, and reservations of sleeping-berths will be made subject to such cancellation or alteration.
(b) Application for the reservation of sleeping-berths will be received as under:
(i) At the station from which the train commences its journey-not later than 1 hour before the timetable time of departure of the train from the starting station.
(ii) At other stations or offices-not later than 2Β½ hours before the timetable time of departure of the train from the original starting station.
Section 16. Reserved Seats

Section 17. Sleeping Berths
Omit this section.
Section 18. Bulk Travel Vouchers
Paragraph 3: Delete and insert:
- Bulk travel vouchers will be available for the purchase of rail tickets issued under the following sections only-2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 11, and 12.
Bulk travel vouchers will not be available on railway or road services suburban routes, sightseeing trips, special tours, or for motor vehicle transport or day excursion trips on the Cook Strait rail ferries.
