The areas comprising the Counties of Hokianga and Whangaroa as from time to time constituted are hereby declared to be united to form an hydatids control district to be called the Hokianga-Whangaroa Hydatids Control District.

The Hokianga-Whangaroa Joint Hydatids Control Committee is hereby appointed the hydatids control authority for the Hokianga-Whangaroa Hydatids Control District.

The Waiareka Downs Irrigation Order 1975

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL PURSUANT to the Public Works Act 1928, His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council hereby makes the following order.
ORDER

This order may be cited as the Waiareka Downs Irrigation Order 1975.

The Minister of Works and Development is hereby authorised to construct, maintain, and control the water-supply works described in the First Schedule hereto to serve the district described in the Second Schedule hereto.

The area of land described in the said Second Schedule is hereby constituted as an irrigation district, to be known as the Waiareka Downs Irrigation District (herein referred to as βthe districtβ).

It is hereby declared that the water charge shall be $28.00 per roster day reducible over the first six irrigation seasons so that the charges for the first seven seasons shall be as set out in the Third Schedule hereto.

It is hereby declared that after the seventh season of operation the water charge may be adjusted annually to take account of the construction costs and the costs for operation maintenance and renewals of the water supply works.
FIRST SCHEDULE WATER-SUPPLY WORKS
THE Waiareka Downs Irrigation Works (for the irrigation of the district) by means of water drawn from the Waiau River and from any dam or dams which are or may be constructed or acquired on the said river or any other river or stream, such water being conveyed in the district by a race or races to be constructed or acquired by the Minister of Works and Development, or by any enlargement or extension thereof; the said works including all water races, dams, weirs, reservoirs, siphons, piping, gauge boxes, valves, bridges, pumps, spillways, regulating gates, meters, and all other works incidental to or required for the construction, maintenance, and control of the said works for the irrigation of the district.
SECOND SCHEDULE WAIAREKA DOWNS IRRIGATION DISTRICT ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District, Amuri County, containing 960 hectares, more or less, bounded by a line commencing at the southernmost corner of Section 28, Annan Settlement, in Block XIII, Waiau Survey District, and proceeding north-easterly along the south-eastern boundary of that section and its production to the northern side of Lower Flat Road; thence north-westerly generally along the generally north-eastern side of that road to the north-western boundary of Section 27, Annan Settlement; thence north-easterly along that boundary to the south-western side of Leader-Waiau Road; thence south-easterly generally along that roadside to a point in line with the western boundary of Section 23, Annan Settlement; thence northerly to and along that boundary and north-easterly generally along the north-western boundaries of Sections 23 and 22, Annan Settlement, to the south-western boundary of Section 16, Annan Settlement; thence south-easterly generally along that boundary to the north-western side of Leader-Waiau Road; thence northerly along that roadside to the eastern side of The Browne Road; thence northerly along that roadside to the north-eastern boundary of Section 17, Annan Settlement; thence south-easterly along that boundary to the left bank of the Waiau River; thence south-westerly generally along that bank to the point of commencement.
THIRD SCHEDULE REDUCED IRRIGATIONS CHARGES

First season Nil. Second season Nil. Third season Five dollars sixty cents. Fourth season Eleven dollars twenty cents. Fifth season Sixteen dollars eighty cents. Sixth season Twenty-two dollars forty cents. Seventh season Twenty-eight dollars.

Consenting to Land Being Taken for State Housing Purposes in Masterton County

Member of the Carter Observatory Board Appointed
