Notice Relating to the Use of Insecticides (Notice No. 1024 Ag. 21308 and 2936)

Pursuant to regulations 3 (2) of the Stock (Insecticides and Oestrogens) Regulations 1961*, notice is hereby given that the chemicals specified in the First Schedule hereto are approved for use as an active ingredient in any insecticide licensed under the Animal Remedies Act 1967, and shall only be used for the control or destruction of arthropod parasites, or other insects on sheep, pigs, or cattle as categorised in the First Schedule hereto and in the manner indicated on the approved label.

diazinon diethyl 2-isopropyl-6-methyl-4-pyrimidinyl phosphorothionate sheep, pigs cattle (except lactating dairy cattle).
dichlofenthion 2,4-dichlorophenyl diethyl phosphorothionate sheep.
dichlorvos 2,2-dichlorovinyl dimethyl phosphate cattle.
dioxathion SS-1,4-dioxan-2,3-ylidene bis-(00-diethyl phosphorothiolothionate) cattle (except lactating dairy cattle).
famphur 00-dimethyl 0-p-(NN'-dimethylsulphamoyl) phenyl phosphorothioate sheep, cattle (except lactating dairy cattle).
fenchlorphos dimethyl 2,4,5-trichlorophenyl phosphorothionate sheep, pigs cattle (except lactating dairy cattle).
fenthion dimethyl 3-methyl-4-methlythiophenyl phosphorothionate cattle (except lactating dairy cattle).
fenthion-ethyl diethyl 3-methyl-4-methlythiophenyl phosphorothionate sheep, pigs cattle (except lactating dairy cattle).
“Lethane 384” 2-butoxy-2’-thiocyanodiethyl ether sheep, pigs, cattle (except lactating dairy cattle).
lindane a product containing not less than 99% gamma-BHC (q.v.) sheep, pigs, cattle (except lactating dairy cattle), as mange dressing or ointment.

THE USE OF INSECTICIDES IN SLAUGHTERING PLACES, MEAT-PACKING HOUSES, AND CANNERIES

Pursuant to regulations 3 (2) of the Stock (Insecticides and Oestrogens) Regulations 1961*, notice is hereby given that:

(a) The insecticides specified in the Second Schedule hereto are approved for use in slaughtering places, meat-packing houses, and canneries for the purposes of insecticides provided that they shall only be used as categorised in the Second Schedule hereto.
(b) The chemical amorphous silica gel with or without pyrethrin or pyrethroids is approved for use as an insecticide in:
(i) Any room which is used for storing meat, if no meat is present in the room at the time of application, and the chemical is removed before any meat is placed in store in the room;
(ii) Any yard or other premises attached to a slaughtering place, meat-packing house, or cannery.
(c) Sugar baits containing a maximum of 2 percent active ingredients of an insecticide specified in the Second Schedule hereto may be used as categorised in the Second Schedule hereto or for insect control in inedible departments and in the vicinity of yards attached to a slaughtering place, meat-packing house, or cannery.
