Special Order Made by Bay of Islands County Council
Altering Riding Boundaries

Pursuant to section 88 of the Counties Act 1956, the Secretary for Local Government hereby publishes the following Special Order made by the Bay of Islands County Council.

SPECIAL ORDER
That the Bay of Islands County Council, pursuant to the powers vested in it by section 23 of the Counties Act 1956, hereby resolves to make a Special Order to alter the boundaries of the Kerikeri, Waitangi, Waimate North, Okaihau, Purerua, Kawakawa, Pakaraka, and Tautoro Ridings and to rename the Kawakawa Riding to be known as the Moerewa Riding, such alterations to be as follows:

(1) The area backing on to Onewhero Bay and also Moturoa Island to be excluded from the Kerikeri Riding and included in the Waitangi Riding. (First Schedule.)

(2) An area west of State Highway 10 to be excluded from the Waimate North Riding and included in the Kerikeri Riding. (Second Schedule.)

(3) A small area west of State Highway 10 to be excluded from the Okaihau Riding and included in the Purerua Riding. (Third Schedule.)

(4) A triangular area mainly north-west of the Hautapu Road to be excluded from the former Kawakawa now Moerewa Riding and included in the Pakaraka Riding. (Fourth Schedule.)

(5) An area south of the Otiria and Orauta Roads to be excluded from the Pakaraka Riding and included in the Moerewa Riding. (Fifth Schedule.)

(6) The area north of State Highway 12 and the Borough of Kaikohe to be excluded from the Tautoro Riding and included in the Waimate North Riding. (Sixth Schedule.)

(7) The Kawakawa Riding to be known as the Moerewa Riding. Such alterations are more particularly delineated on the map of the alterations dated the 21st day of August 1974, and described in the annexed Schedules hereto.

The plan of the alterations and descriptions of the boundary changes to be publicly displayed at the council offices for a period of 3 weeks prior to confirmation.

This Special Order to be confirmed at the special council meeting to be held on Friday, the 13th day of September 1974 and to take effect from the 12th day of October 1974 being the date of the elections.

FIRST SCHEDULE
AREA TO BE EXCLUDED FROM THE KERIKERI RIDING AND INCLUDED IN THE WAITANGI RIDING

All that area in the North Auckland Land District, Bay of Islands County, bounded by a line commencing in Block IX, Kerikeri Survey District, at the intersection of a right line from the southernmost extremity of Wharengaere No. 1 Block with the northernmost corner of Old Land Claim 431 in Block XIII, Kerikeri Survey District, with the northern boundary of Kerikeri Riding as described in New Zealand Gazette 1970, page 1682, and proceeding south-westerly along that right line to that northernmost corner of Old Land Claim 431 aforementioned; thence southerly generally along the western boundary of Old Land Claim 431 to the northernmost corner of Lot 5, D.P. 51237; thence south-westerly, westerly, and southerly generally along the generally north-western, northern, and western boundaries of that Lot 5 to its southernmost corner; thence south-westerly generally along the western boundary of Section 57, Block XII, Kerikeri Survey District, the north-western boundaries of Lot 6, D.P. 51237, the northernmost boundary of Section 58, Block XII, aforesaid, and the north-western and western boundaries of Lot 4, D.P. 51237 to its junction with the northern boundary of Lot 1, D.P. 25368; thence easterly, northerly, and westerly generally along the southern, eastern, and northern boundaries of the Kerikeri Riding as described in New Zealand Gazette, 1970, page 1682, to the point of commencement.

SECOND SCHEDULE
AREA TO BE EXCLUDED FROM WAIMATE NORTH RIDING AND INCLUDED IN KERIKERI RIDING

All that area in the North Auckland Land District, Bay of Islands County, bounded by a line commencing at the easternmost corner of Lot 11, D.P. 59516, and proceeding south-westerly generally along the south-eastern boundaries of that Lot 11, to and north-westerly along the south-western boundary of Lot 10, D.P. 59516, to and south-westerly along the south-eastern boundary of Lot 12, D.P. 59516, to the right bank of the Waihaua Stream; thence northerly along that bank to its intersection with the production of the southern boundary of Lot 4, D.P. 61960, in Block I, Kawakawa Survey District; thence westerly along that production crossing the Waihaua
