The Motor Launch (Canterbury and Marlborough Rivers)
Notice 1974
PURSUANT to the Motor Launch Regulations 1962* the
Minister of Transport hereby gives the following notice:
- (a) This notice may be cited as the Motor Launch
(Canterbury and Marlborough Rivers) Notice 1974.
(b) This notice shall come into force on the date of its
publication in the Gazette and shall remain in force
until revoked by further notice in the Gazette. - Subject to the conditions set forth in the Second Schedule
hereto, regulation 11 (a—d) of the Motor Launch Regulations
1962 as to limitation of speed, shall not apply in those
rivers described in the First Schedule hereto.
FIRST SCHEDULE - Ashburton River—Canterbury Land District: All the
waters and tributaries of the Ashburton River above tidal
influence. - Ashley River—Canterbury Land District: All the waters
of the Ashley River from its source to the main traffic
bridge on State Highway 1. - Awatere River—Marlborough Land District: All the
waters of the Awatere River from its source to the sea. - Clarence River—Marlborough and Canterbury Land
Districts: All the waters of the Clarence River from its
source to the sea. - Conway River—Marlborough and Canterbury Land
Districts: All waters of the Conway River from its source
to the sea. - Hapuka River—Marlborough Land District: All the
waters of the Hapuka River from its source to the sea. - Hurunui River—Canterbury Land District: All the waters
of the Hurunui River from its source to the sea. - Kahutara River—Marlborough Land District: All the
waters of the Kahutara River from its source to the sea. - Kowhai River—Marlborough Land District: All the
waters of the Kowhai River from its source to the sea. - Kowai River—Canterbury Land District: All the waters
of the Kowai River (Ashley County) from its source to the
sea and including the Kowai North and Kowai South
branches of that river. - Makikihi River—Canterbury Land District: All the
waters of the Makikihi River above tidal influence. - Motunau River—Canterbury Land District: All the
waters of the Motunau River from its source to a line
between the two white marker posts on the river banks
on the bend above the mooring area for fishing boats. - Otaio River—Canterbury Land District: All the waters
of the Otaio River above tidal influence. - Rakaia River—Canterbury Land District: All the
waters and tributaries of the Rakaia River above tidal influ-
ence excepting thereout the Glenariffe Stream on the true
right bank and the area known as the Hydra Waters (Grid
reference S73/840895 and S73/880895) on the true left bank
approximately 15 miles upstream from the Lake Coleridge
power station. - Rangitata River—Canterbury Land District: All the
waters and tributaries of the Rangitata River above tidal
influence. - Waiau River—Canterbury Land District: All the waters
of the Waiau River from its source to the sea. - Waihao River—Canterbury Land District: All the
waters of the Waihao River above tidal influence. - Waimakariri River—Canterbury Land District: All the
waters of the Waimakariri River from the Bealey Bridge
on State Highway 73 to the twin traffic bridges on State
Highway 1. - Waipara River—Canterbury Land District: All the
waters of the Waipara River from its source to the sea and
including the North, Middle and South Waipara branches
of that river. - Wairau River—Marlborough and Nelson Land Districts:
All the waters of the Wairau River from its source to above
the Tuamarina Bridge on the Blenheim to Picton portion
of State Highway 1. - Waitaki River—Canterbury and Otago Land Districts:
All the waters and tributaries of the Waitaki River above
tidal influence to the Waitaki Dam. - Wakanui Creek—Canterbury Land District: All the
waters of Wakanui Creek above tidal influence.
SECOND SCHEDULE - The provisions of the General Harbour (Nautical and
Miscellaneous) Regulations 1968 (1968/239) shall, so far
as applicable, apply at all times. - The provisions of this notice shall not apply to access
lanes or reserved areas declared pursuant to regulation 13
of the Motor Launch Regulations 1962 (1962/180) when
these access lanes or reserved areas are being used for
water ski-ing activities.

Meat Industry Training Board Notice 1974
PURSUANT to section 15A of the Vocational Training Council
Act 1968, the Minister of Education hereby gives the follow-
ing notice.
NOTICE - This notice may be cited as the Meat Industry Training
Board Notice 1974. - There shall be an industry training board for the meat
industry which shall be known as the Meat Industry Training
Board and shall comprise the following members:
(a) Eight members appointed by the New Zealand Freezing
Companies Association, one of whom shall be elected
by the board as Chairman.
(b) One member appointed by the Director, Meat Industry
Research Institute of New Zealand (Inc.).
(c) One member appointed by the Vice-Chancellor of
Massey University.
(d) One member appointed by the Chief Executive Officer
of the Vocational Training Council.
(e) One member appointed by the Director-General of
Education.
(f) Two members appointed by the trade unions represent-
ing workers employed in the meat export industry.
(g) Not more than two additional members to be co-opted
by the board itself if and when it thinks fit. - (1) The appointed members shall hold office for a period
of 3 years, but may from time to time be re-appointed.
(2) Any co-opted member shall hold office during the
pleasure of the Board for a period not exceeding 3 years, but
may if eligible be re-appointed.
(3) If any member dies, or resigns his office by writing
under his hand addressed to the board or the Chairman
or the Secretary thereof, or is absent without leave from
the meetings of the Board for 3 consecutive meetings, or
while holding office becomes for any reason ineligible to
remain a member, the casual vacancy so created shall be
filled as soon as practicable thereafter by the appointment
of a member in the manner in which the vacating member
was appointed, and the member appointed to fill the vacancy
shall hold office for the residue of the term of office of
the member whom he replaces.
(4) Unless he sooner vacates his office every appointed
member of the board shall continue in office until his
successor comes into office.
(5) The powers of the board shall not be affected by any
vacancy in the membership thereof. - (1) Deputy members may be appointed, in the same
manner as appointed members, to be the deputy of a
member and act in the event of the absence of the member
from any meeting of the board.
(2) While any person is acting pursuant to subclause (1)
of this clause he shall be deemed to be a full member of
the board. The fact that any person so acts shall be sufficient
evidence of his authority to do so.
