Notice of Trust Proposal Poll in Wellington West Former No-Licence District

In accordance with section 9B of the Licensing Amendment Act 1910, a poll of the electors residing in the Wellington West former no-licence district must be held on the question whether all licences to be authorised in such district by the Commission should be offered to suburban trusts.

The Commission now directs that:

  1. The returning officer for the taking of the poll shall be Alan Joseph Smyth, of Wellington.
  2. The poll shall be held between the hours of 9 a.m. and 7 p.m., on Saturday, 12 October 1974, at the polling place or places appointed and advertised by the returning officer.
  3. The parliamentary electoral rolls for the Electoral Districts of Island Bay, Karori, Wellington Central, and Southern Maori, suitably marked to indicate the persons entitled to vote shall be the rolls to be used for the purposes of this poll.
  4. A supplementary roll of persons who have qualified since the last electoral roll closed shall close at 5 p.m., on Friday, 20 September 1974.
  5. The voting paper shall be in the form in the Schedule to this notice.

POLL to determine whether all licences that may be authorised in the former Wellington West no-licence district, as a result of the review conducted by the Licensing Control Commission, should be offered to suburban trusts (referred to as “the Trust Proposal”).

DIRECTIONS
The voter must strike out one line leaving untouched the line which shows the way he wishes to vote.
If the voter strikes out both lines or fails to strike out one of the lines, the voting paper will be void and his vote will not be recorded.
The voting paper so marked is to be folded up, so that the contents cannot be seen, and placed by the voter in the ballot box.
The voter is not allowed to take this voting paper out of the polling booth.
