Pursuant to section 35 of the Defence Act 1971, His
Excellency the Governor-General has approved the following
appointments, promotions, extensions, transfers, resignations,
and retirements of officers of the New Zealand Army:

REGULAR FORCE
ROYAL REGIMENT OF N.Z. ARTILLERY

Lieutenant-Colonel G. A. Hitchings, M.B.E., to be acting
Colonel with effect from 3 August 1973.
Captain (temp. Major) K. P. Murphy to be Major with
seniority and effect from 12 December 1972.

Supernumerary List

The engagement of Major V. J. Duley, M.C., is extended
to 30 November 1976.

ROYAL N.Z. CORPS OF SIGNALS

Lieutenant (temp. Captain) and Quartermaster R. E. White,
B.E.M., to be Captain and Quartermaster with seniority and
effect from 1 July 1973.
Lieutenant R. A. Cooper to be temp. Captain with effect
from 22 October 1973.

ROYAL N.Z. INFANTRY REGIMENT

Major B. R. H. Monks to be temp. Lieutenant-Colonel
with effect from 29 October 1973.
Major E. J. Torrance to be acting Lieutenant-Colonel with

Captain Geoffrey Raymond JACKETT from the Royal
Australian Regiment is appointed to a commission for an
initial period of five years in the rank of Lieutenant with
seniority from 26 November 1970, and effect from 26 November 1973.

Lieutenant (temp. Captain) and Quartermaster J. W.
Carruthers to be Captain and Quartermaster with seniority
and effect from 30 November 1973.

ROYAL N.Z. ARMY MEDICAL CORPS

Captain (temp. Major) E. W. Gledhill to be Major with
seniority and effect from 21 September 1973.
Captain Peter Harold Bannister, M.B., CH.B., is transferred
to the Reserve of Officers, General List, Royal N.Z. Army
Medical Corps, in the rank of Captain, until 31 October
1985, with effect from 1 November 1973.
Lieutenant Christopher John Heron, M.B., CH.B., is transferred
from the Territorial Force in the rank of temp. Captain
with seniority as a Lieutenant from 12 December 1971, and
effect from 29 November 1973.

B.C.A., M.COM.(HON.) is cancelled with effect from 19 November 1973.

Lieutenant Richard Lockhart Watson LL.B., is posted to
the Retired List with effect from 22 August 1973.
2nd Lieutenant P. W. A. Bevin to be Lieutenant with
seniority and effect from 15 October 1973.

2nd Squadron, New Zealand Scottish, RNZAC

Major Ian Richard Lambeth is transferred to the Reserve
of Officers, General List, Royal N.Z. Armoured Corps, in
the rank of Major, with effect from 30 November 1973.
