Pursuant to section 35 of the Defence Act 1971, His Excellency the Governor-General has approved the following appointments, promotions, extensions, transfers, resignations, and retirements of officers of the New Zealand Army:

Brigadier David John Aitken, O.B.E., is posted to the Retired List with effect from 17 May 1974.
COLONELS' LIST
Colonel (acting Brigadier) L. W. Wright, M.B.E., to be temp. Brigadier with effect from 3 September 1973.
Colonel Robertson Harvey Smith, O.B.E., is posted to the Retired List with effect from 17 June 1974.
Colonel H. B. Honnor, M.V.O., to be acting Brigadier with effect from 27 May 1974 and temp. Brigadier with effect from 3 June 1974.
ROYAL N.Z. ARMOURED CORPS
Captain (temp. Major) E. T. Finnimore to be Major with seniority and effect from 1 April 1974.

Major William Earl Mervyn Stewart is posted to the Retired List with effect from 6 June 1974.
Captain (temp. Major) and Quartermaster H. M. J. Shorter is transferred to the Supernumerary List on reaching retiring age for rank, with effect from 24 May 1974, and his engagement is extended until 23 May 1975.
Lieutenant G. R. Jason-Smith, B.E.(CIV.) to be temp. Captain with effect from 21 March 1974.

Captain John Desmond Cameron Watson is posted to the Retired List with effect from 22 June 1974.
Lieutenant (temp. Captain) E. J. Knowsley to be Captain with seniority and effect from 20 December 1973.

Lieutenant-Colonel A. G. Armstrong to be acting Colonel with effect from 3 May 1974.
Lieutenant-Colonel E. Marr, E.D., is transferred from the Territorial Force in the rank of Major, with seniority from 1 October 1969 and effect from 22 June 1974, on his appointment as a Military Observer, UNTSO, Palestine.
Captain (temp. Major) S. J. M. Winton to be Major with seniority and effect from 1 April 1974.
Captain (temp. Major) Colin Charles Brown is transferred from the Territorial Force with effect from 26 April 1974, in his present rank and seniority, on his appointment as a Military Observer, UNTSO, Palestine.
Captain Graham Wallace Jackson is transferred to the Reserve of Officers, General List, Royal N.Z. Infantry Regiment, in the rank of Captain with effect from 2 May 1974.

Lieutenant P. G. W. Morgan is transferred from the Territorial Force and appointed to a Regular Commission in the rank of 2nd Lieutenant with seniority from 20 May 1973 and effect from 20 May 1974.
ROYAL N.Z. ARMY ORDNANCE CORPS
Lieutenant (temp. Captain) and Quartermaster H. S. McLachlan is transferred to the Supernumerary List on reaching retiring age for rank, with effect from 29 April 1974.
K39362 Warrant Officer Class I Tama Hiini, Royal N.Z. Army Ordnance Corps, is appointed to a commission in the rank of Lieutenant and Quartermaster, with seniority and effect from 13 May 1974.
