Military Promotions and Land Vesting




  1. The areas comprising the County of Waimarino and
    the Boroughs of Raetihi and Ohakune as from time to time
    constituted are hereby declared to be united to form a
    hydatids control district to be called the Waimarino Hydatids
    Control District.

  2. The Waimarino County Council is hereby appointed
    the hydatids control authority for the Waimarino Hydatids
    Control District.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington this 29th day
of April 1974
Present:
THE HON. H. WATT PRESIDING IN COUNCIL
PURSUANT to section 175B(2) of the Harbours Act 1950,
His Excellency the Governor-General, acting by and with
the advice and consent of the Executive Council, hereby
vests in the City of Manukau the land described in the
Schedule hereto, which land was authorised for reclamation
by Order in Council of 14 September 1970*, and 20 December
1971†, such land to be vested as an esplanade reserve.

SCHEDULE
ALL that piece of reclaimed Crown land at Maraetai situated
in Block I, Wairoa Survey District, Allotment 121, Maraetai
Parish, containing 2076 square metres as shown on plan
S.O. 49000.
The District Land Registrar is hereby authorised to make
such entries in his Register as are necessary to give effect
to this Order.

Excellency the Governor-General has approved the following
appointments, promotions, extensions, transfers, resignations,
and retirements of officers of the New Zealand Army:

REGULAR FORCE
ROYAL REGIMENT OF N.Z. ARTILLERY
Captain (temp. Major) Brian St. John Gore is posted to
the Retired List with effect from 9 February 1974.
Captain and Quartermaster P. R. R. Rutherford, M.B.E.,
is transferred to the Supernumerary List on reaching retiring
age for rank, with effect from 3 November 1973, and
his engagement is extended until 2 November 1974.
Lieutenant (temp. Captain) R. H. Williams to be Captain
with seniority and effect from 10 December 1973.
Lieutenant (temp. Captain) A. J. Rivers to be Captain
with seniority and effect from 20 December 1973.

ROYAL N.Z. ARMOURED CORPS
Lieutenant-Colonel J. W. Mawson, M.V.O., B.A., to be acting
Colonel with effect from 25 January 1974 and temp. Colonel
with effect from 1 February 1974.
Captain (temp. Major) William John Scott is posted to
the Retired List in the rank of Major with effect from
16 January 1974.

on reaching retiring age for rank with effect from 28 April
1974, and his engagement is extended until 27 April 1975.

11 February 1974.
Captain M. R. Farland to be temp. Major with effect from
15 October 1973.

Withers to be Captain and Quartermaster, with seniority

Major P. R. Sumner to be Lieutenant-Colonel with
seniority and effect from 18 December 1973.
Lieutenant (temp. Captain) W. H. Menzies to be Captain
with seniority and effect from 20 June 1973.
2nd Lieutenant Ronald Wayne Tasker is transferred to
the Territorial Force with effect from 1 March 1974.
W38085 Warrant Officer Class I James McIntyre, Royal
N.Z. Army Service Corps, is appointed to a Regular commission in the rank of Lieutenant and Quartermaster, with
seniority and effect from 25 March 1974.

ROYAL N.Z. ARMY MEDICAL CORPS
Major R. T. Moloney, M.B., CH.B.(OTAGO), is re-engaged
until 14 January 1974.
Lieutenant (temp. Captain) C. J. Heron, M.B., CH.B., is
re-posted to the Territorial Force, 1st Field Ambulance,
RNZAMC, in the rank of Lieutenant, with seniority from
12 December 1971 and effect from 27 February 1974.

ROYAL N.Z. ARMY ORDNANCE CORPS
X40248 Staff Sergeant Joseph Seymour Bolton is appointed
to a Regular commission for an initial period of five years
in the rank of 2nd Lieutenant, with seniority from
14 December 1973 and effect from 1 March 1974.

ENGINEERS
Lieutenant (temp. Captain) R. S. Vine to be Captain
with seniority and effect from 1 February 1974.

Major P. J. Clarke, B.D.S., M.D.S.(OTAGO), F.A.C.D.S., assumes
the appointment of Consultant Oral Surgeon to the New
Zealand Armed Forces, with effect from 1 April 1974.
Captain H. M. Mace, B.D.S., M.SC., to be Major with
seniority and effect from 13 January 1974.
Captain C. J. Richards, B.D.S., to be Major with seniority
and effect from 13 January 1974.
Lieutenant B. W. Small, B.D.S., is re-engaged on a Special
Dental Engagement until 24 September 1975.
Lieutenant R. N. Greenslade, B.D.S., is re-engaged until
25 September 1975.
Lieutenant P. B. Hawker, B.D.S. The notice published in
the Gazette, 28 March 1974, No. 27, p. 555, is cancelled
and the following substituted:
“Peter Bardsley Hawker, B.D.S., is appointed to a commission on a Special Dental Engagement until 10 July
1978, in the rank of Lieutenant, with seniority from
5 December 1973 and effect from 11 January 1974”.

ROYAL N.Z. CHAPLAINS' DEPARTMENT
Chaplain 4th Class J. M. Harford (Church of England)
is re-engaged until 3 July 1978.

ROYAL N.Z. NURSING CORPS
Charge Sister D. M. Shaw is re-engaged until 18 January
1976.

ROYAL N.Z. ARMY EDUCATION CORPS
Major P. R. Raue, M.A., DIP.TCHG., to be acting Lieutenant-

List with effect from 25 April 1974.
45884 Officer Cadet Ellen Marie Turner is appointed to
a commission on an initial engagement of three years, in
the rank of 2nd Lieutenant, with seniority and effect from
23 April 1974.
