Appointments, Promotions, Extensions, Transfers, Resignations, and Retirements of Officers of the Royal New Zealand Navy

Pursuant to section 35 of the Defence Act 1971, His
Excellency the Governor-General has approved the following
appointments, promotions, extensions, transfers, resignations,
and retirements of officers of the New Zealand Naval Forces:
ROYAL NEW ZEALAND NAVY
Lieutenant Commander E. S. Eide to be Commander with
seniority from 31 December 1973 and effect from 4 February
1974.
Lieutenant (temp. Lieutenant Commander) M. R. M.
Mason to be Lieutenant Commander with seniority and
effect from 2 January 1974.
The appointment of Ensign Terry Julian Smith is
terminated with effect from 4 January 1974.
The appointment of Midshipman D. J. Carpenter is reduced
to 6 January 1982.
Peter Douglas Bean, L.TH. (Church of England) to be
Chaplain (on prob.) with seniority from 15 August 1969,
and effect from 7 January 1974.
Clive Cooper, M.SC., is appointed to a short-service com-
mission in the RNZN for a period of 5 years in the rank
of Instructor Lieutenant (on prob.) with seniority from
10 January 1971 and effect from 10 January 1974.
Malcolm Alexander Croft, B.A. is appointed to a short-
service commission in the RNZN for a period of 5 years
in the rank of Instructor Lieutenant (on prob.) with seniority
from 7 January 1973 and effect from 7 January 1974.
Russell Keith Richardson, M.SC., is appointed to a short-
service commission in the RNZN for a period of 5 years
in the rank of Instructor Lieutenant (on prob.) with seniority
and effect from 7 January 1974.
Larry Robbins is appointed to the RNZN as Ensign (on
prob.) on an 8 year commission on the Supplementary List,
with seniority from 11 April 1973 and effect from 11
January 1974.
The following are appointed to the RNZN as Midshipmen,
on a permanent commission, on the General List (University
Scheme), with seniority and effect from 18 January 1974:
Conrad Jason Hardy.
Warwick Terence Morris Sullivan.
The following are appointed to the RNZN as Midshipmen,
on a 12 year commission, on the General List (Creswell
Scheme), with seniority and effect from 18 January 1974:
Ian Ross Logan.
Steven John Tollenaar.
The following are appointed to the RNZN as Midshipmen
on a 12 year commission on the General List (University
Training Scheme), with seniority and effect from 7 January
1974:
David Francis Aston.
David Joseph Gallagher.
David Robert Gregory-Hunt.
Richard Miles Mason.
Gwynrydd Ardo Rees.
Russell James Scott.
William Turnbull Stevens.
The following are appointed to the RNZN as Midshipmen,
on an 8 year commission on the Supplementary List, with
seniority and effect from 7 January 1974:

Robert Craig Monroe.

ROYAL NEW ZEALAND NAVAL VOLUNTEER RESERVE
The appointment of Chaplain P. D. Bean, L.TH., is
terminated with effect from 6 January 1974, on his transfer
to the RNZN.

Pursuant to section 59 of the Defence Act 1971, the
Minister of Defence hereby approves the following appoint-
ments, promotions, extensions, relinquishments, cancellations,
transfers and resignations of officers of the New Zealand
Cadet Forces.
SEA CADET CORPS
Promotion
Ensign J. P. Roche to be Sub Lieutenant with effect
from 29 November 1973.
Resignation
Lieutenant James Kennedy Donald resigns his commission
with effect from 30 November 1973.
Terminations
The appointment of Lieutenant Alan James Houston is
terminated with effect from 12 December 1973.
The appointment of Sub Lieutenant Magnus Thompson
Sinclair is terminated with effect from 12 December 1973.
Transfer
Sub Lieutenant Ronald Charles Belk is transferred from
TS Chatham to TS Leander with effect from 20 November
1973.
SCHOOL CADET CORPS
Appointment
Murray Edward Dobson is appointed to a commission
in the rank of 2nd Lieutenant with effect from 24 October
1973.
Promotions
Lieutenant B. A. Collins to be Captain with effect from
31 August 1973.
Lieutenant B. P. K. Lynn to be Captain with effect from
31 August 1973.
Resignations
Lieutenant John Warwick Bell resigns his commission with
effect from 31 November 1973.
2nd Lieutenant Richard Wilton resigns his commission with
effect from 12 December 1973.
Lieutenant John David Carr resigns his commission with
effect from 19 December 1973.
