21. Goods for Transshipment at Lyttelton

  1. Where goods for transshipment are landed ex-ship they will be charged the rates provided for in section 96, General Scale of Charges. If left on the railway premises more than 1 week, storage at the rates specified in section 22 (below) will be charged.

22. Storage Charges at Lyttelton

For all goods not delivered within 8 working hours of arrival and stored, storage will be charged at the rate of 47c per tonne or 42c per cubic metre per working day with a minimum of 24c per day.

23. Haulage Charges, Lyttelton to Woolston, Heathcote, and for Local Delivery at Lyttelton

  1. Goods ex-ship of Classes C, D, G (including Classes C, D, and G, subject to a percentage or other reduction), E, E plus 25 percent, E plus 50 percent, N, P, P plus 25 percent, and P plus 50 percent railed direct from ship’s side to Heathcote or Woolston, will be charged $3.54 per tonne or $3.17 per cubic metre including cost of tarpaulins, and will be conveyed at owner’s risk.

  2. Goods ex-ship hauled direct from ship’s side to public or private sidings at Lyttelton will be charged under the provisions of section 96, General Scale of Charges.

  3. Goods ex-ship of Classes C, D, G (including Classes C, D, and G, subject to a percentage or other reduction) and glue pieces, railed to Christchurch for sorting and returned to Woolston Heathcote, or Lyttelton, will be charged at $5.36 per tonne or $4.81 per cubic metre including sorting, and will be conveyed at owner’s risk.

  4. Goods ex-ship of Classes E, E plus 25 percent, E plus 50 percent, N (n.o.s.), P, P plus 25 percent, P plus 50 percent, and Q railed to Christchurch for sorting and returned to Woolston, Heathcote, or Lyttelton, will be charged at $7.12 per tonne or $6.39 per cubic metre including sorting, all shed handling charges, and cost of tarpaulins, and will be conveyed at owner’s risk.

  5. Small lots of goods chargeable at the rates specified in paragraphs 1, 3, and 4, will be charged as follows:

  1. Timber, wool in bales, and skins in bales, ex-ship railed to Christchurch for sorting and returned to Woolston or Lyttelton, will be charged as follows, including sorting and all shed handling charges, and costs of tarpaulins:

    Wool and skins in bales .. .. $1.32 per bale undumped.
    Timber n.o.s. .. .. $7.54 per cubic metre.
    Timber, hardwood (charged at K plus
    50 percent) .. .. $9.57 per cubic metre.

  2. The charges for ship’s goods, Classes C, D, and G will be computed in accordance with section 127, General Scale of Charges.
