Game That May be Hunted or Killed
thence northerly to the intersection of Kinloch Road and the Okute River and along the middle line of that road and Morrisons Road to the middle of the Christchurch-Akaroa -No. 75 State Highway; thence proceeding along the middle line of that road generally south-westerly to its junction with Beach Road;
thence generally north-westerly along the middle line of the Christchurch-Akaroa No. 75 State Highway to Tai Tapu; thence in a westerly direction along the middle lines of Lincoln Road, Ellesmere Junction Road, through Lincoln to Springston; thence to the junction of Burnham Road; thence in a northerly direction along the middle line to the main north-south railway line; thence in a southerly direction along the railway line to the middle line of the Rakaia River; thence in a south-easterly direction to the sea coast; thence in an easterly direction along the sea coast to the point of commencement)

Midnight 8 February 1974 to 24 March 1974 at midnight incl.
California quail 5 May to 29 July 1973 incl. Cock pheasant 4 June to 18 June 1973 incl. Chukor 5 May to 26 August 1973 incl.
Daily Bag Limits
Grey duck, 15. Shoveler (or spoonbill), duck, 5. Mallard duck, 15. Paradise duck, 3. Grey, shoveler (or spoonbill), mallard, and paradise duck, 15 in all.
Shooting hours: 6.30 a.m. to 7 p.m. except that during the period 5 June 1973 to 7 October 1973 inclusive and midnight, 8 February 1974 to 24 March 1974 at midnight inclusive, Canada goose may be shot 24 hours per day.
Decoy limit: 25, except that in Area B, from 5 June 1973, there will be no limit on the number of Canada goose decoys.
Special Conditions
- No hut, mudhole, stand, hide, shelter, maimai, boat, louvre, or cylinder or other contrivance shall be used for the hunting or killing of game in any part of Lake Ellesmere in which the water is of a greater depth than 60 cm, excepting such areas as may be decided upon by the North Canterbury Acclimatisation Society:
Provided that nothing in this special condition shall prevent any person using any vessel for the purpose of retrieving game that has been killed or wounded.

It shall be an offence for any person to wilfully leave any swan(s) shot, or the mutilated bodies of any swan(s) shot, in the North Canterbury Acclimatisation District.

A licence issued pursuant to this notification to hunt or kill game shall entitle the holder thereof to hunt or kill game on that portion of the bank and bed of the Rakaia River which lies within the Ashburton Acclimatisation District, and on that portion of the bank and bed of the Conway River which lies within the Marlborough Acclimatisation District, during the period and subject, mutatis mutandis, to the conditions prescribed in this notification fixing an open season for game in those districts respectively.

It shall be an offence to drive black swan for the purpose of hunting or killing them on or around Lake Ellesmere.

Special Conditions

No person shall use, or cause to be used, on any water within the district for the hunting or killing of game any fixed stand, pontoon, hide, maimai, or loo, except within the distance of 10 metres, from the margin of such water in non-tidal waters, or from low-water mark in tidal waters or, where raupo abounds, 10 metres from the outside edge of such raupo.

Shooting hours: 6.30 a.m. to 6.30 p.m. except that, in that portion of Lake Benmore and its shore line 800 metres in width which lies within the South Canterbury Acclimatisation District, the hours shall be 6.45 a.m. to 7 p.m. During the period 5 June 1973 to 7 October 1973 inclusive, and midnight 8 February 1974 to 24 March 1974 at midnight inclusive, Canada goose may be shot 24 hours per day.
Decoy limit: 25, 5 May 1973 to 4 June 1973 inclusive, thereafter no limit.
