Privileges and Immunities of Representatives and Their Staffs Attending the FAO Seminar on the Design and Construction of Ferro-Cement Fishing Vessels and the Fifteenth Session of the Indo-Pacific Fisheries Council
WHEREAS the FAO Seminar on the Design and Construction of Ferro-Cement Fishing Vessels is to be held at Wellington from 9 to 13 October 1972:
And whereas the Fifteenth Session of the Indo-Pacific Fisheries Council is to be held at Wellington from 18 to 27 October 1972:
And whereas these conferences will be attended by representatives of the Government of New Zealand and representatives of the Governments of other States:
And whereas it appears that doubts may arise as to the privileges and immunities which may be enjoyed by representatives and members of their official staffs attending the said conferences:
Now therefore pursuant to section 11 of the Diplomatic Privileges and Immunities Act 1968, the Minister of Foreign Affairs hereby directs that every representative of governments and the members of their official staffs attending the said conferences shall be accorded the following privileges and immunities:

While exercising their functions as such and during their journey to and from Wellington, the like immunity from personal arrest or detention and from seizure of their personal baggage and inviolability for all papers and documents as is accorded to a diplomatic agent.

Immunity from legal process of every sort in respect of words spoken or written and all acts done in their capacity as such.

While exercising their functions as such, and during their journey to and from Wellington, the like exemption from taxation as is accorded to a diplomatic agent provided that such exemption from Customs and excise duties and sales tax shall only be accorded in respect of goods imported as part of their personal baggage.

PURSUANT to section 10E of the Tariff and Development Board Act 1961, and to the provisions of the Import Control Regulations 1964*, the Minister of Customs hereby gives notice as follows:
- (i) This notice may be cited as the Import Control Temporary Restriction Notice 1972.
(ii) This notice shall come into force on the day after the date of its publication in the New Zealand Gazette.
